I don't see how this is about racism or the kkk, what about the beginning with the Peter Piper stuff.

You know that the i-e-a-i-a-i-o kinda sounds like a army chant so maybe it's about the war in iraq?? Oh and that news one is actually a good theory cause all those ...Missions...Came up in the news and they repeated the verses symbolizing the repeatative way the news is. Oh..And to top it off i-e-a-i-a-i-o (iraq war) its always on the news. Hmm makes you wonder how clever soad is...

Hey if you don't remember some guy above said that the 4th july thing is posted in the soad official page´s lyrics of ieaiaio , even though it is not said on the song

I think that the entire song is all of these things!

Kkk use the chant and are racist, but still celebrate 4th july but "why?" (4th july isn't mentioned but "light up the sky" with fireworks, perhaps, is)

the names are to do with crimes involving racism.

The song is kinda random, which fits in with another persons post.

Soad make the songs abstract so you can put your own meanings to it too. The posibilities are almost endless

Nowhere in his song does it say 4th of july.

    Nowhere.

And I've listened to it many times. It doesn't say 4th of july anywhere!!!!!!!!!

You guys are allllll wrong. This song isn't about racism or assasination. It's about the annoyance of news. All the startings end with why. As in why do they bother to tell is about this junk. And then light up the sky on the 4th of july is reffering that on the 4th of july they have lots of news. And ieaiaio is reffering to the really random stuff that the news spits out. Soad is talking about the annoyance of useless news and how it repeats the same subject which is why they say the same things such as "a former cop undercover just got shot now recovered a former cop undercover just got shot now recovered, why?' there obviously saying that news is repeating itselves.

This Song is about the kkk chant and how racism still exists, whil Lois lane and other lyrics refer to crimes that have been unsolved due to racism, so do your homework people I searched for days finding out those crimes.

I heard somewhere that i-e-a-i-a-i-o are the vowels in "idealization"...which they are, so maybe it has to do with idealization. Thought i'd throw that out there.

SOAD even said themselves, some of the songs have meaning to THEM, they are sung so everyone can have their own meaning about THEMSELVES.

Listen, unless your have asked Serj himself or any of the other band members or he has left some kind of web page explaining the true meaning of all his song in every album, don't try and come up with d.a.s. like the fourth of july. and the kkk chant well I'm still lookin into the and etc etc. and yes some of those name were use in operations but I don't think they ever user operation Jimmy Carter fighting crime as a real name for that kind of thing.

it seems to be another inkblot

I always caught it as a almost discordian look at the sillyness of American culture kinda mashed into a song...

You might want to look into it a little better yourself. The line 'Why? And we light up the sky' refers to the common celebration of setting off fire works during the fourth of July. If you looked at the band's site a while back (I am unsure if it is still there), the line is written 'Why? On the Fourth of July'. But I-E-A-I-A-I-O is a KKK chant and the song does question racsism, it is also speaking the names of secret missions. There are multiple meanings to this song.

Whoever thought it was a random chant needs to read the rest of the lyrics. The KKK burn people at the stake, making huge pyres and 'lighting up the sky'.
