Roulette Lyrics

I have a problem that I cannot explain,
I have no reason why it should have been so plain,
Have no questions but I sure have excuse,
I lack the reason why I should be so confused,

I know, how I feel when I'm around you,
I don't know, how I...

I like the idea of a girl, BUT, SOAD is so very politically motivated, etc. That I believe in this song, they're talking about the AUDIENCE...US..."I don't know how I feel when I'm around you" could be a direct nod (or slam) against the FAN POSUER, etc. or US, the audience, as he describes the nuances it takes to get to a show...running after planes, etc.

Just an opinion, but I truly feel that these guys are so enured in cause that they're wondering here if everyone else is.

    Don't KILL the messenger.

This is part one of three which goes as following,
    1. Ego Brain 2. Roulette 3. Streamline, because they're in order on the album. Get it? Good.

After he meets this girl, the next day she runs off with someone else(this is explained later in the song), when he gets home he feels confused(I have a problem that I cannot explain, I have no reason why it should've been so plain, (Have no questions but I sure have excuse), I lack the reason why I should be so confused.), and he starts blaming himself for why she ran off. As she tries to explain why she made a scene and ran away, he understands but still misses her.

This song is simply talking about him being an amatuer poker player playing a home poker game against a veteran poker player.

"I lack the reason why I should be so confused." that obviously shows that he's a poker rookie player and doesn't know why he's confused by his opponents moves and secretiveness.

"I don't know how I feel when I'm around you" that simply says that the opponent's poker face is so good that he can't tell what kind of hand his opponent has.

"left a message but it aint a bit of use" trying to get his opponent to "take the bait" by bluffing.

"I have some pictures, the wild might be the deuce." it means that his hand consists of either j-q-k-a and they pick a random card to be the "wild card" and that is the deuce (the two card).

"today you called, you saw me, you explained, playing the show and running down the plane" his opponent called his bluff and won the pot and made it to where he has almost now chips so he's "running the table".

I actually think it's pretty funny that they sing about a poker game, although there could be a completely different meaning to it. I also saw how it might be about an ex-gf that called him and explained why she doesn't love him anymore but I can't back that one up so I'm not gonna try.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
