You're Gonna Go Far Kid Lyrics

Show me how to lie
You’re getting better all the time
And turning all against the one
Is an art that’s hard to teach
Another clever word
Sets off an unsuspecting herd
And as you step back into line
A mob jumps to their feet

Now dance,...

See the video, morrons! Anyway, even by watching the video we're not all going to come to ONE decision...
    MY opinion....
    "show me how to lie,
you're getting better all the time" the first phrase is what the peasant says to the fairy when she appears in front of him, he wants to know to be able to lie and use other people. This explains why he uses negatively his power later. Then the second phrase is what she says to him, that he was improving from when he was younger and he deserves it.
The chorus says "now dance fucker dance" etc. until "it was really only you" shows that the fairy was the one that never gave him a single chance and no one imagined it was her, they all thought he was crap.
"with a thousand lies..."etc. until " see 'em running for their lives" means that having a nice guitar made him "wear" a "disguise", not being himself. And as the others were blinded by his "disguise" he hit them right between the eyes, the music hit them right between the eyes, that means they were astonished by it, and then he suddenly left and they were speechless by the fact they were robbed so easily(when you walk away nothing left to say). The phrase "see the lightning in your eyes" means that he was satisfied by that and he wanted to go on to rob others. Then, "see 'em running for their lives" goes to say the robbed ones' astonishment turned into panic for they had no money....

I feel the meaning to the song is someone adandoned or mistreated. The lines slowly outta line and drifting closer in your sights; which i feel tells how something is happening right now and then. listening to this song makes me think more of positive then negative emotions or feelings. this song actually get me pumped up and makes me wanna do something outstanding or makes me wanna play sports.

Yes, I know what the music video says; the abuse of power - hence the "Dance, f*cker, dance".
But my opinion before I saw the video was this; The singer is some form of mafia/gang leader, and the person he is singing about is his kid/apprentice.
He could be shooting at the person's feet when the dance line come up, and training and encouraging this person other times.
I don't expect you to agree with me. No flames, peeps.

offspring's 1989 album is the timeline of the new jesus' life. He's been back for awhile now, he's in his twenties, just a kid. A higher power used the offspring to write that album, and this song. Jesus is white, but he has the power to shapeshift into a black man. The higher power is the master of manipulation(a thousand lies), and a white man that turns into a black man is a good disguise. A retarted cop tried shooting Jesus, then he sent the bullet back at him and hit him right between the eyes. The title "you're gonna go far kid" refers to the timeline established in their 1989 album. We're currently on track 4 of that album, so some crazy shit is about to go down. Hint: there are thousands of guillotines spread across the planet on military bases. Beheaded!

I take a meaning from this song which is different to all except one of these previous comments. I believe it to be about a boy who's girlfriend has cheated on him, but the gf tries to cover up her immoral actions by lying and saying that HE cheated on HER. I feel I should note that I was very impressed with the explanation of the bully, but I was very convinced by the assassin interpretation.

    Anyway, here is my analysis....

    "Show me how to lie
You're getting better all the time"
The boy is fascinated at how the girl is able to lie about him so easily, and effective at undermining him.

"And turning all against the one
Is an art that's hard to teach"
Again, he is emphasising how her ability to turn everyone against him so easily is difficult, but her evilness makes it happen.

    "Another clever word
    Sets off an unsuspecting herd"
'Another' suggests that the gf is guilty of past lies. He is saying that, once again, her lie has sparked a frenzy of gossip aimed against the boy.

"And as you step back into line
A mob jumps to their feet"
As the gf slips away back to her world of cheating, nobody notices as everyone is focused on the boy, who they think is cheating on the gf.

    "Now dance, fucker, dance
Man, he never had a chance"
The boy vents his anger at the gf. He claims he never had a chance to put things right with her, or else never had a chance to defend himself against these rumours.

    "And no one even knew
    It was really only you"
Nobody knew that it was only the gf cheating, and not the boy. That is how good at lying she is.

    "And now you steal away
    Take him out today"
Now she escapes with her new lover, who she is cheating with. She will 'take him out' with her (i.e party/clubs/movies)as if he is a new trophy she has won from her deceit.

    "Nice work you did
    You're gonna go far, kid"
The boy is being sarcastic here, highlighting the shrewdness of the gf. She will 'go far' in this world of lies and deceit we have created.

    "With a thousand lies
    And a good disguise"
While making '1000 lies' about her bf 'cheating', she has a good disguise to cover up her own cheating.

"Hit em right between the eyes
Hit em right between the eyes"
The gf has damaged the boy badly, metaphorically 'hitting him right between the eyes'

    "When you walk away
    Nothing more to say"
The gf can walk away with her new lover with no questions asked, as everyone has been misled by her lies.

"See the lightning in your eyes
See em running for their lives"
The boy is describing how dangerous and threatening the gf is 'lightning in her eyes'. 'running for their lives' may reference also how dangerous the gf is, with the boy comparing her to dangerous animal that people should avoid.

    "Slowly out of line
And drifting closer in your sights"
Time has moved on. The boy has been replaced by the man who the gf left him for (we will refer to him as 'boy2'). However, the process is about to repeat itself. Boy3 has emerged 'put of line' and is slowly 'drifting closer into sight' of the gf. The girl may intend to now do the same to boy2 as she did to the boy singing the song (boy1).

"So play it out I'm wide awake
    It's a scene about me"
The original boy (boy1) is hoping that the girl will do the same to boy2 as she did to him. He is waiting for her to 'play it out'. He is 'wide awake' meaning that he is aware of the gf's intentions. Its a scene which is familiar to him.

    "There's something in your way
And now someone is gonna pay"
Boy1 does not want to gf to damage boy2, so he is ready to expose her as the liar she is. Boy1 is in the way of the gf's cruel intentions. The gf is 'gonna pay' for what she did to the boy, and what she intends to do to boy2.

"And if you can't get what you want
Well it's all because of me"
If the gf isn't able to get rid of boy2 to get 'what she wants' (boy3) then its all because of what she did to the original boy. The original boy is taunting the gf, highlighting the irony of the fact that what she did to him has made him more aware of her methods, and what she is about to do to boy2. He also clearly has figured out how to stop it.

    ...
    ...
    ...

"And now you'll lead the way
    Show the light of day"
Now the girl will 'lead the way' i.e she will be the one who is subjected to the criticisms. She needs to 'show the light of day' i.e tell the truth about everything, which would clear the name of boy1.

    "Nice work you did
    You're gonna go far, kid
    Trust, deceived!"
Once again, the boy admires the gf's web of lies, sarcastically. However he adds in her philosophy: the boy 'trusts', the boy is 'deceived'.

    ...
    ...

    "Now dance, fucker, dance
    He never had a chance"
When this is repeated towards the end, it bears different meaning than what it did at the start. Here the boy wants to watch the girl try to squirm and fight her way out of the harsh criticism she is in for now that she is in for. The crowd are going to be disgusted at her, saying how her boys "never had a chance" before she dumped them for the next one.

    ...
    ...

    "Clever alibis
    Lord of the flies"
the boy laughs at how good his gf's lies were, and how they belong in the theme of savagery (Lord of the Flies highlights this theme also).

So, in summary, this song is about a boyfriend and girlfriend. The gf cheats on him, and tries to preserve her name by saying that he cheated on her. She does this again with the next bf, however the previous bf exposes her as the liar she is.

That's what I think. I should point out, though, that I was also very impressed by the assassin story. I am not saying that my own explanation is correct, merely that it is my own explanation.
    Thanks :)

The song seems to be about someone hurting people yet not being noticed. Also the "lord of the flies" might refer to beelzebub,a demon.

Hasnt anybody on this site ever been dumped?

Ok, so maybe we dont know what he had in mind. maybe he read lord of the flies, maybe he saw any number of movies about the picked on kid... or maybe like me this is just how he feels about the girl who hit him right between the eyes with all of her lies. Try reading it from that perspective and see whatcha think.

I thought I it was about getting a gift for working hard and then at first enjoying it but because of society and trying to fit in you begin to abuse it's power so nature then punishes you in some way shape or form (but then again I watched the music video on youtube and that's how I interpreted it.)
one more thing probably none of you care about is that as I was writing this I was listening to pandora on my phone and this song came on.
P.S. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To me, if you look at the beginning he was ragged clothes and no one bothered giving him a chance, but with lying and disguising himself to match the rest of the people, he was able to make them dance like the puppets they are.
