Chalk Outline Lyrics

I've been cursed, I've been crossed
I've been beaten by the ones that get me off
I've been cut, I've been opened up
I've been shattered by the ones I thought I loved
(Chorus)
You left me here like a chalk outline
On the sidewalk waiting for...

This songs reconise a broken relationship. The girl broke up with him in a bad way. We can tell that he loved her a lot, and that they had spent a lot of times together. He never believed that she would left him. He is desperate and broken.

He is saying that she left him like a "chalk outline on the sidewalk waiting for the rain to wash away" to make clear to her that it is not over for him and that he cannot move on and continue his life. He can't move.

    "I've been cursed...get me off"
In this part i suppose that the guy had a lot of tough times in his life and has been turned down by a lot of people he counted as his. He found out a girl, that he was sure that she would never dissapoint him, but she did. He cannot take this and feels so broken that he cannot move on like he is such a dead body

    At least my thoughts

This song represents a broken couple. The girlfriend broke up with him. She tries to get back together then breaks him again. He decided to forget her, he says that all that is left is a chalk outline. Meaning that there is nothing left for her to come back to.

Its a great song, it gets you thinking of how what you do could affect others.

When looking at the lyrics for "Chalk Outline," the factor that should stick out the most is the comparison between a chalk outline and a hurtful or broken relationship. We've all seen the iconic "chalk outline" in movies and TV that is drawn to represent the position that a body was left in at a crime scene. Gontier is juxtaposing a murder victim with the "victim" of a broken relationship. After somebody you love hurts you as deeply as the lyrics suggest, it makes you feel dead inside. In a way, he is the chalk outline - his body is not really whole anymore now that she has broken his heart. She keeps going back to the scene of the crime - which is him - but he doesn't talk to her, he can't bring himself anymore pain. He waits for the rain to wash away the chalk outline of himself - hoping that it will cleanse and mend his broken heart.

    Okay lets try this out:

I've been cursed, I've been crossed, I've been beaten by the ones who get me off~~ He's been hurt and used repeatedly by significant others

I've been cut, I've been opened up, I've been, I've been shattered by the ones i thought i loves~~ He's revealed himself and betrayed by them

You left me here like a chalk outline~~ She left him like he didn't mean anything to her

Waiting for the rain to wash away~~ She hoped he would just disapear

You keep coming back to the scene of the crime~~ She keeps coming back to him after leaving him

But the dead can't speak, and there's nothing left to say anyway~~ She left him speechless and he wouldn't have anything to say regardless

All you left behind is a chalk outline~~ there is only the memory of him left for her

I've been cold in the crypt~~ He admits to being hurtful in the 'relationship'

But not as cold as the words across your lips~~ but he hasn't been as cruel and hurtful as the things she's said to him

You'll be sorry baby, one day, when you reach across the bed where my body use to lay~~ She'll regret doing him the way she did one day and wish she had him back

So all in all i think this song is about a relationship where the girl walked all over her boyfriend and left him in a cruel way and she wont ever get him back because of the way she did him
