Let It Be Lyrics

When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let...

The song may have been written from a dream about Paul's mother.A dream may also tap into a universal consciousness in which God communicates messages to mankind.

The dream obviously strikes a chord with people that the meaning alludes to the Virgin Mary. The Virgin Mary is the mother of all mankind and can be addressed as mother by anyone just as God the Father is addressed as "Our Father".

I find it hard to believe that Paul's mother came to him to tell him that mankind will find its answer to its problems when broken hearted people come to an agreement. This sounds like a universal message that is meant for mankind not just her son Paul.My mother never came to me in the morning and said something as deep as this. Did yours? "Good morning mom I'm depressed".Mom says"When the broken hearted people agree there will be an answer so let it be.So don't worry about the beatles breaking up when the broken hearted people agree there will be an answer to your problems with your band.My mom might say, your tired go back to sleep and you'll feel better when you wake up",or,"have you been taking your vitamins. My mom might say something like," get your butt up and get ready to go to school!". Paul Might say,"Mom my band is breaking up.I feel worse than I did at your funeral". I'm depressed mom I've been part of the greatest band that ever existed. I've got hundreds of millions a dollars and I have so many beatiful women throwing themselves at me I don't know which one to pick.Mom please help me!

Yes, that's what I thought as well, hippie times, so Mary was Mary Jane... Makes all the sense, times of trouble you spark a doobie and then you don't worry all that much (at least temporarily).... Obviously its not about religion, they were a liberal band and religion was one of the things Lennon crossed off the list of his paradise place in "Imagine".

Didn't know about the mother tho, and it seems as a good explanation, but I suppose there's a double meaning involved

I always was told it was Paul telling the band and everyone else to just let the band's break up happen.

One of you was right. This song was written in the time of the Vietnam War. It was written to get people thinking about how awful war is and to stop it. They said to put your guns down to stop war; it probably wouldn't work but it got people thinking.

Let it be done unto me according to your word--the words of the Virgin Mary to the Angel Gabriel, giving God her full consent to participate in His saving plan. Paul McCartney clearly meant the song to have religious significance, even if it did start out as a dream about his mother.

Hi every one. ...to me, this song is just a nice reminder that everything will work out in the end. That if we all just "let it be" things will be ok. That all of our issues will at one point be resolved, and that not everyone has an answer. ...now, I'm not a crazy insane Beatles fan, and I don;t really know, or care for that matter who the hell mother mary is, but I guess I have always interpreted it as being the virgin mary. not his dead mother-but hey! ...whatever floats your boat. ...this has always been one of my favorite songs, and I think that it has a good message. and can be important to anyone however we might interpret it. personally, this song has helped me a lot to get through hard times...when I'm sad, and I'm trying to get over something...i listen to this song...and try to remember to let it be. because weather it's Pauls dead mother, or Christ's, these 3 simple words could mean a lot to all of us, and are very much words of wisdom. we should all remember to let it be. Think about it.

Although it may have a specific meaning to Paul it is still a work of art.

What it means to him and what he meant by it can be interpreted differently by different people and that is what art is.

You cannot say art means one thing or another. And even when its creator says what it is, different people still get different things out of it and that is ok.

I don't know if it's about the blessed mother or Paul's mom, but I think he's just simply saying let it be. There will be an answer don't fight it just let it be

The song is called "Let It Be." It wasn't meant to be understood or analyzed; it's a tune, a melody, a music, and it's comforting. The irony is that everyone's trying to put their two sense in. The band just wanted peace...for all to know a calm is attainable. We just have to "let it be."

It's not about drugs. I myself am a massive Beatles fan, and I believe that they wrote most of their sons for the lyrics to have different meanings depending on who you are.

Let it be can translated to "amen". Mother Mary can have multiple meanings and I believe that he left it vague for a reason. Considering how popular religious references are in songs, especially if they are subtle, I believe that he wanted people to draw the inference that Mother Mary was the Virgin Mary. I also believe that the song began as a tribute to his dead mother but in the songs development he took a different path and consciously used words to allude to the Virgin Mary as being the subject of this song.
