Let It Be Lyrics

When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let...

Alright...you people have so many different reasons for this song. One thing is...only one person is right because there is only one meaning. Let It Be is one of my favorites because Paul wrote it and he was my favorite in the band. Mother Mary isn't the Virgin Mary, Mother Marry is Paul's mother. The dream I think is true. That person that said about his father for him to say "let it be" is right. (it's the dream) if you want to figure it out...ask Paul McCartney for himself lol...what more can I say...he wrote it.

Originally when they were filimng 'Let it be " movie, when they were at Twickenham studios, there was a rat infestation (evidently Ringo had gotten into the habit of leaving fish n' chip wrappers around). Well they could not get rid of it, so they devised a plan. Yoko Ono had immensley stinky feet, so they tried to convince he to walk around barefoot to get rid of the rat (it was rumored her feet smelled so bad it would melt chocolate). well Yoko being the stubborn one that she was refused to do it. This rat was the main reason the recording sessions were so troublesom e to especially Paul and the rest of the Beatles and caused so much discontent. Yoko actaully wanted to eat the rat, not kill it. Anyway, Paul thought a way of coaxing Yoko to do it would be to sing her a song..so he wrote this song for her called "Stinky Feet".

The lyrics were "when I find myself in times of trouble mother mary comes to me singing ing words of wisdom STINKY FEET STINKY FEET YES THERE WILL BE AN ANSWER STINKY FEET STINKY FEET

WHEN THE BROKEN HEARTED OF THE WORLD AGREE STINKY FEET STINKY FEET OH YEAH STINKY FEET>>>WHISPERING WORDS OF WISOM STNKY FEET"

Anyway Yoko could't stand it anymore and eventually went barefoot and gor rid of the damn rat which she was planning on having for lunch. John suggested that Paul change it to "Let it Be" since the beetles had no plans about getting deep about STINKY FEET

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

    1--The dream scenario is right

2--Let It Be was before Let It Bleed

    3--John didn't hate the song

4--What else would Paul call his mother Mary, father Mary? Would he say 'my mother comes to me?" no!

it's not about the virgin mary
Why does he say mother mary instead of my mother mary or just mary? same reason he says hey jude instead of hey jules, it sounds better. John hated this song becuase of the obvious misconceptions that this would be about the virgin mother mary so he followed the song with Maggie May, a song about a hooker.

Guys... Just because he had a mother named Mary and had a dream like that doesn't mean that the song isn't ALSO about the Virgin Mother. He was obviously comparing his own mother to the Madonna through the use of his odd word choice. (Who would call their own mother "Mother Mary"?)

He obviously thought pretty highly of his mother.

I see there's a whole dead mom theme going on here. Could be right, but I'm writing a report on The Beatles and I just read in a book called The Sixties, and it said that it was another anti-war/peace song; it was meant to be an alternative to the Rolling Stones "Let it Bleed".... eh?...eh?

Even if that is true, how is that disagreeing with what I stated? Both of those events could have happened.

I'm sorry to disagree, but in an interview, Paul says where the song came from. When the band was in hard times during the Get Back sessions, Paul had a dream in which his deceased mother came to him and told him that everything would be okay. "In the dream she said, 'It'll be alright.' I'm not sure if she used the words 'Let it be' but that was the gist of her advice, it was 'Don't worry too much, it will turn out okay."

No, and No. This song was written by Paul McCartney, toward his father. When Paul was young, his mother MARY McCartney died. When Paul would argue and fight with his brother his mother would say 'Let it Be'. Hence the lyric, "When I find myself in times of trouble, mother mary comes to me". Not the Virgin Mary, as originally thought. He wrote this to comfort his father, for him to "Let it Be".

In my opinion, this song could be perceived as someone holding onto their faith (Mother Mary was the mother of Christ) despite the bad things, and that if you don't forsake your faith, there will be an answer as long as you let it be and dont question it. Kinda makes you wonder what you're doin' on a lyrics interpretation site doesn't it?

This was about a dream Paul McCartney had about his dead mother. Mother Mary was Mary McCartney
