This song is basically a song saying no matter where you go there is always that place you call home and it will always call to you. No matter where you go no matter how far away you are livin your dream life you will always long for that place and want to go home to the place where you belong. Where your roots are.

This song is about Bon Jovi's life. About his 20 years on the road singing in the band and doing concerts. He says that even if he is on the road all the time, he can still go home, and still is a hometown boy.
