The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows Lyrics

We saw the western coast
I saw the hospital
Nursed the shoreline like a wound
Reports of lovers tryst
Were neither clear nor discript
We kept it safe and slow
The quiet things that no one ever knows

So keep the blood in your head
And...

I think it could possibly be about a secret relationship. Tryst
–noun 1. an appointment to meet at a certain time and place, esp. one made somewhat secretly by lovers.

hence the title "the Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows"

the first verse is talking about how they went to the beach and stuff but something went wrong and they get caught. She starts freaking out so he tells her to keep the blood in her head and feet on the ground, they are scared of whats going to happen and I think she starts hurting herself and he doesn't know what to do.

They stay together and get married and as that happens either the guy or girls parents get a divorce and this couple is blessed by the set of parents that are together and the other parents that are getting divorced blame them for it.

All this time the guy though has regretted staying with the girl but because she hurt herself so much when things went bad he couldnt leave so he lied to himself and to her and got tired of the whole thing... and eventually I think he kills himself because that last part about lying and all is him saying his final prayer because he can't go on like this.

This song is about a guy and a girl, probably in high school. They were in love in the first verse and acted like normal highschool kids would go on "lover's trysts". But then one day, the girl found out she was pregnant. The boy tried to console her and told her the "keep the blood in [her] head and keep [her] feet on the ground"), but he knew that this was the end of their love, that "today's the day [they] get tired, today's the day [they] drop out." Eventually the get married and "by then it's you I could do without"), and they feel that the kids are to blame for this horrible forced relationship, that it was the childrens fault they have to be with someone they don't love ("although the kids are blessed the parents make them shoulder all the blame"). But the guy will still force himself to stay in the marriage, for either the wife or the kids, and would live a "lie for only you," whoever you may be. What I don't get is the line "wasting words on lower cases and capitals." Whats that supposed to mean? And what about all the beach allusions, why does the beach matter so much?
