She is a wicked ride
Yes she is
She said I’m gonna make you climb right out yourself
She said now break free
You might have to give up your life

Dave is singing about being in love with a neurotic woman. He is attracted to her because she is broken inside and he wants to rescue her and make things right, be her knight in shining armor. Instead, he is just chasing her love which she is not capable of giving him and it drives him crazy. "I'll drink your poison if you fill the cup" is about him enduring her self-destructive ways in the hopes she will see break free of it all. Yet, she will only break free of him eventually. Possibly a new Dave song about an old flame, Julia Grey.
