What I am getting from this song is it's about a bad relationship. He says "I'm growing so distant nothing makes sense to me anymore". When he says "can't explain why its so hard for me to see your side" I interpret that as when while he's in an argument it's hard to see the other person's side or point of view because it may be something he just doesn't agree with. The parts of this song that lead me to believe that this is about a toxic relationship is when he says "I can't seem to get this through to you the walls are closing in I dare you to walk in my shoes". Meaning that if the other person walked in his shoes they would see the other side. They would probably see how their actions are affecting the relationship.

To me its about someone that thinks they are breaking up with someone else but he doesnt know what the hell is going on.
