i also believe this song is simply about both drug abuse and sex addiction. i think the patient fell into those scenes when he was alive and he's reflecting on it now on his death bed.
of course the first verse is kinda straightforward.
the second verse delves more into the theme.

Away with the boys in the band"--poison most likely referencing drugs.

I think the pause after blow me is another reference to sex (as a joke i'm guessing).

A shot may be alcohol. A kiss, sex? The sharpest lives, maybe needles and just the dangerous lifestyle.

More sex references. Like a night club or those vampire night clubs. And of course the vampires in the chorus all those things harmful to him like the drugs.

It's about Gerard's past drug addiction.. it's painfully evident ... you gotta be a kid to think it's about cheating.. you should be embaraseed.

I believe this song is about a girl cheating on a guy and him finding out.. This is after he finds out

He had to think over what had happened, and your mind only makes things worse. He wants to just pass out.

He pretends to be happy, but snaps and confronts her

He's telling her she should love the pain and suffering that her desires make, and that instead of dying like juliet does, she should put the blood on HER hands, and be guilty and in misery as her 'love' is no longer there -

its of personal experience so I am going to use words like I and Me...

When People see me laugh I don't mean it...i want to leave the world completely- "if it l;ooks like I'm laughing I'm really just asking to leave". He Just wastches me when I'm like this- "this alone your in time for the show". I Need him and he hates me- " Your the on ethat I need, I'm the one that you loathe".
he can watch me get angry at myself for not being good enough- "you can watch me corrode like a beast in repose". I Need him or will vanish- " Cause I love all the poison away with the boys in the band".

*unlike everyone else I think when he is asking if I crash on your couch can I sleep in my clothes he is REALLY asking her if she will accept him as is or if he has to change his belief or "clothes" to be accepted by her*

*i think the girl is the poison not drugs or alcohol and when he says you can watch me corrode he means his love for her is eating at him widling him down to nothing*

a girl/boy - just say a girl - is madly in love with this boy who doesn't even notice her. She goes out for a walk to think about what she could do - "well it rains and it pours when your out on your own". She comes home and is just fo fed up that she just sleeps on the couch with her clothes on - "if I crash on the couch can I sleep in my clothes". She has been out all night trying to forget about him - " cause I've spent the night dancing, I'm drunk I suppose". She has been hiding that she actually misses him from all her friends by laughing and joking when really she wants to be alone to confront the problem - "if it looks like I'm laughing I'm really just asking to leave". Shes alone and she thinks that he enjoys leaving her in pain - "this alone your in time for the show". She thinks about it...and she describes it as she loves him and he hates her- "your the one that I need,im the one that you loathe". She gets angry with herself because she loves him - " You can watch me corrode like a beat in repose". She thinks that she loves him but is not sure - "cause I love all the poison away with the boys in the band". She thinks she's mad...so she wants to die - " Ive really been on a bender and it shows...so why don't you blow me a kiss before she goes".
She wants him to do something she will remember - "give me a shot to remember". And She will Be happy - " and you can take all the pain away from me". She only wants a kiss - " A kiss and I will surrender".
This was based on MY OWN feelings on the song. and she is replaced with ME. In my opinion -
K well I agree with the first guy, but I've made a few changes.
First of all the first 2 lines show how he feels towards her- he wants her to experience how he feels. Then he crashes on the couch to wait for his friend to leave, since he knows he is there. He tells us at the end of the first stanza he doesn't really want to do what he is planning, but it's too late when his friend comes in, so he 'starts the show,' which is basically confronting them about their affair. The 'bender' word means he is under the influence and has been abusing drugs. 'you can watch me corrode like a beast and repose'- his addiction is killing him and all his friend does is continue living his life. 'So why don't you blow me a kiss before she goes' is a metaphor. It means tells his friend to kill him before he kills her. 'A light to burn all the empires So bright the sun is ashamed to rise and be' is another metaphor. The sun is the speaker of the song, the light is his friend and the empires symbolize their relationship and how his friend wrecked it. That whole Romeo and Juliet thing means he accuses his friend of seducing her, and that her death is his fault so he can 'wash his hands clean' bacuse he caused her death. The lines 'Cause I love all the poison' and 'In love with all these vampires' express how he loves his friend and girlfriend but they are out to hurt him. 'So you can leave like the sane abandoned me' means he lost it. 'Give me a shot to remember And you can taje the pain from me' is telling his friend to kill him but remember why he did it, so he won't hurt anymore. 'A kiss and I will surrender' means if she comes back to him he will surrender his heart to her again.
Obviously she doesn't so he kills her, as we can hear her in the background, and he breaks down crying, as we hear in the end of the song.
Trajic, really.
That's why the whole 'Romeo and Juliet' line is in there. -
Now im only 15 and havent finished the play but i can clearly see that this song is based on the play Romeo and Juliet.
shakespearian time...the line "take off your skin" may mean thats its noow ok to be himself.
"cannible glow" could mean how dangerous it could be to show ones true self. In R and J romeo is a montague and juliet is a ccapulet sworn enemies...
and the lines

comes straight from the play...
Romeo whether on accident or purpose caused every death in the play and juliet was still inflatuated with him. Even after he killed her ocusin. she was soo inflatuated with him they both ended up commiting suicide... -
i think that this song means that some guy got totally wasted and he's just now figured out what that's doin' to his life. u know that part with romeo and juliet? thats the part where he's realized he's wrecked a relationship with someone he loved.

First of all, you guys read the lyrics wrong. You have to read like Shakespearean text, like connecting lines that aren't connected. For example:
"If it looks like I'm laughing
I'm really just asking to leave.
This alone, your in time for the show.
You're the one that I need, you're the one that I loathe."
You have to connect the lines "If it looks like I'm laughing, I'm really just asking to leave.....next saying and so on!"
Also like when he says:
"Why don't you blow me
A kiss before she goes."
Also like Shakespearean text! A play on words! When he sings it, it sounds like one thing, but could mean something completely different, or vice-versa! -
This song is about someone who's very alone-well it rains and it pours and you're out on your own-he's been to a party and gets very drunk. When he gets home he has an argument with his girl. She makes him sleep on the couch-if I crash on the couch can I sleep in my clothes-.
In one verses he's asking her to help him cure his addiction to drugs and booze. -

I think that this song heavily leans on the 'live fast, die young' cliche. The line 'the sharpest lives are the deadliest to lead' show this. He's talking about how he 'loves the poison' and has been on a bender, and how much it shows. Because of these lines, I also think it's about becoming unhinged and addicted to alcohol. I dunno, it's just my theory. Don't ask about the surrendering lines, they remind me too much of a story I'm writing xD
