Brick by Boring Brick Lyrics

She lives in a fairy tale
Somewhere too far for us to find
Forgotten the taste and smell
Of a world that she's left behind

I think this song is about suicide.
She lives in a fairy tale
Somewhere too far for us to find
    Forgotten the taste and smell
Of the world that she's left behind
(As in she's in heaven now, somewhere too far for us to find and she's forgotten us.)
It's all about the exposure the lens I told her
The angles were all wrong now
She's ripping wings off of butterflies
(The girl was looking at things wrong, but she didn't listen and is literally destroying her life).
keep your feet on the ground
when your head's in the clouds
(Think about what suicide will do to everyone rather than just you)
    Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
    Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
Ba da ba ba da ba ba da
(The narrator is saying bitterly, maybe, to maybe a relative of the deceased girl, well go get your shovel and we'll bury away her and her magic).
So one day he found her crying
Coiled up on the dirty ground
Her prince finally came to save her
And the rest you can figure out
    But it was a trick
    And the clock struck twelve
Well make sure to build your home brick by boring brick
or the wolf's gonna blow it down
(She was in a relationship but it wasn't working, and her life was falling down around her).
keep your feet on the ground
when your head's in the clouds
    Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
    (Same as before)
Well you built up a world of magic
Because your real life is tragic
Yeah you built up a world of magic
    If it's not real
You can't hold it in your hand
You can't feel it with your heart
    And I won't believe it
    But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
    Oh even in the dark
And that's where I want to be, yeah
(The girl couldn't stand how her life was going and made herself an imaginary world but she couldn't escape her life and finally killed herself. The narrator is saying that they envies the girl for her peace.)
    Go get your shovel
    We'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
    Well go get your shovel
and we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
    Guys x2:
ba da ba ba da ba ba da......
    Hayley x2:
ba da ba ba da ba ba da.....
(Same as before, the girl is gone and there is no coming back for her. She's been buried in a deep hole with everything that she stood for).
This is just my interpretation, anyway :3

She lives in a fairy tale
Somewhere too far for us to find

Of the world that she's left behind
It's all about the exposure the lens I told her
The angles were all wrong now
She's ripping wings off of butterflies
(She lives in a fantasy world that only she understands. People try to get her back but she won't come. She thinks the fantasy world is good for her but it's really not.)

Keep your feet on the ground
When your head's in the clouds
(She shouldn't get too carried away in this fantasy world but that's exactly what's happening.)

    Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle x2
    Ba da ba da ba
(She has to bury this fantasy world before it can hurt her anymore)

So one day he found her crying
Coiled up on the dirty ground
Her prince finally came to save her
And the rest you can figure out
    But it was a trick
    And the clock struck 12
Well make sure to build your house brick by boring brick
or the wolves gonna blow it down
(She got interested in boys and came out of her fantasy world for one. It didn't turn out well so she went back into the fantasy world, just not quite as deep. The fantasy world doesn't like this.)

Keep your feet on the ground
When your head's in the clouds

    Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle x2

    woah woah

Well you built up a world of magic
Because your real life is tragic
Yeah you built up a world of magic
(She built this fantasy world as an escape from her real life. Now as she embraces real life, the fantasy world turns on her.)

    If it's not real
You can't hold it in your hand
You can't feel it with your heart
    And I won't believe it
    But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
    Even in the dark
And that's where I want to be, yeah
(Now she's telling herself it's not real to calm herself down. She wants to be in a place where she knows this isn't real. This girl probably has anxiety or an anxiety related disorder.)

    Go get your shovel
    We'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle x2
    Ba da ba da ba...

I think its about how life and situations can be misenterpreted or how someone can get caught up in a fantasy.
i listened to the song when i broke up with a boyfriend who fit the criteria of prince charming..then i realised it was too good to be true.
the chorus could be about getting over the fantasy. 'bury the castle' castle resembling a fairtytale.
the bit about building a house brick by boring brick or the wolf will blw it down and 'keep your feet on the ground when your heads in the clouds' could all resemble watching what your doing when you get carried away with a fantasy.

You have to live in a reality, not a fantasy. Cause when you do live in a fantasy, you don't realize what's happening until it kicks you in the butt or in Hayley's version, you fall in your grave living life a fantasy.

I Always Thought That The Song Was About Having To Grow Up And "Bury The Castle" The Imaginary Perfect World Children Get To Live In. And Having To Leave All Her Childhood Things Behind. If You Watch The Music Video It Looks Like Adult Haylee Is Doing Just That And Burying The Child She Used To Be. But That's Just My Thoughts I Could Be Wrong.

For this song there is a video for it so you have to take that and the lyrics into consideration and it'll make it a lot easier to figure out what it is about.

in the video there is a little girl the runs off and every thing she sees is kind of magical. She's in a fairytale land that she has created herself because the real life well sucks. This fairytale land of hers happens to be heaven. They can't find her because she is dead. She's got her butterfly wings on because she wants to be one, free and not held down on the ground. She's very far out there and imaginative but she's being told that she needs to come back to reality but hey she's like 8, she's supposed to be dreaming up her own fairytale lands. So when they say dig a hole and bury the castle they say she's dead. In the video someone is digging a grave while the little girl has "run off" but she's dead so she's in heaven while this guy is digging a hole just to leave her in so no one finds her. This little girls life sucked so she just left to try and get away from it. maybe she was abused or something. Some guy found her and pretends like hers going to take care of her but he ended up hurting her which so he killed her. She tried to get away from him but her murderer (the wolf) found her. Her life sucked so she was always kind of living in her fairytales. no one believed her when she would talk about her fairytale lands. They knew that's all it was but she wouldn't believe it because she wanted it to be so real since her real life was so tragic. In the end of the video her fairytale land kind of turns against her and she runs to get away but falls into the grave and her murderer is filling it up. almost like she tried to get away but she ended up getting caught and dying.

ah so I'm not completely sure if I'm right infact I'm sure some of it I'm not because this is a difficult song to understand but a very very good song. very sad and full of meaning.

"She lives in a fairy tale, somewhere to far for us to find"
(in a state of extreme trauma and/or abuse a child resorts to creating an altar reality in there mind)// ..there are secrete facilities all over the U.S that intentionally abuse and cause extreme harm to abducted children by the government, they do these things to observe and tamper this "fairy tale world in the mind"

"Forgotten the taste and smell of the world that she's left behind"
(the child has been in this situation for so long, that her old life isn't even a vivid memory..

"its all about the exposure the lens I told her, the angles are all wrong now, now she's ripping wings off of butterflies.."
(as the abuse continues, the victim begins to build this alterd world that she was told to make,, now she's in the beginning stages of her monarch programming, which got its name from the monarch butterfly that passes knowledge and memory via its genes,, hence ripping wings off of butterflys, and the cover picture of the album.

"keep your feet on the ground, when your heads in the clouds.."
(dont get too curious in this new fantasy world.. Or else"

"Well go get your shovel, and we'll dig a deep hole, to bury the castle bury the castle"
(castles and mirrorrs are triggers for monarch(hypnotised) slaves,, they resemble the key to their fantasy world, and the sad truth is the only way out is through death, which seems like a blessing to the victim)

"so one day he found her crying coiled up on the dirty ground, her prince finally came to save her, and the rest you can figure out; but it was a trick and the clock struck twelve; be sure to build your house brick by boreing brick or the wolfs gunna blow it down"
(in the rooms where these victims are kept, its usually real horrid, its been reported that there are fecese and urine spread throughout the room because of neglect... Each victim has a handler or watcher to observe there progress to these children they are there saviors or rescuers, but the handlers are also there to further abuse them mentally, physically, and sexually... They do this so the victim could suffer so much that they build a barrier or "wall" in there mind to escape...

"you built up a world of magic because your real life is tragic"..
    (Again monarch programming)

::::the last verse describes simply that no matter how hard you try you will never escape..

In the music video the young girl or "victim" builds this world,[she is seen wearing monarch butterfly wings] as she starts to beleive its a good magical world everything goes wrong; she enters a castle with mirrors dispalyed everywhere,, creepy demons and puppets come out of the mirrors[remember mirrors and castles are triggers] she starts to relize the true nature of this world, and is almost being punished for finding out the truth.. The magicall world that was built to protect her is now trying to keep her,, she runs back through the field in which she came from... Shes almost at the exit but falls into a hole dug by the band.. Which was obviously planned .. The band leader dropps the stuffed animal that the little girl was holding into the hole... Then they start to bury her alive... (as a result for being too curious and finding out the truth, she may never return, so needless to say she is now useless in the eyes of her abusers so they kill her...

Well, I don't really think this song talks about the innocence of a girl.

She lives in a fairy tale
Somewhere too far for us to find
    Forgotten the taste and smell
Of the world that she's left behind

*We all clear this means that she has created her own perfect worl, forgeting about all the problems of real life.

It's all about the exposure the lens I told her
The angles were all wrong now
She's ripping wings off of butterflies

*The first line means that everyting is seen in different perspectives, things change depending on where you're standing, but the angels (things that are meant to be good) were all wrong now. I think thins means that what was supposed to be good (for example marriage, maybe she had an awesome idea of marriage) and then she found out that wasn't exactly magical. An well, butterflies need wings to feel free,to feel alive. If you rip their wings, you rip their life.

keep your feet on the ground
when your head's in the clouds

*Don't forget who you really are. Don't go to your magic world and forget your real life.

    Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle

*This means we will forget about your magic perfect world, so you can find perfection in your real life. If you keep living on a fairy tale, you will never find the cool things about life.

So one day he found her crying
Coiled up on the dirty ground
Her prince finally came to save her
And the rest you can figure out
    But it was a trick
    And the clock struck twelve

*One day, someone found out she was sad, because her "prince" had arrived, but "the clock struck twleve" this means, THE MAGIC ENDED. real life came. Happy endings don't exist. Life is about good and bad stuff.

Well make sure to build your home brick by boring brick
or the wolf's gonna blow it down

*Se we will make sure to prepare you for life. If you are innocent and naive, you will suffer, 'cause one way or another you will find out life is great, but also hard.

Well you built up a world of magic
Because your real life is tragic
Yeah you built up a world of magic

*This was the clue for me. Her life wasn't good at all. So she pretended it was. She lied and told everyone how happy she was, when she is actually miserable.

    If it's not real
You can't hold it in your hand
You can't feel it with your heart
    And I won't believe it

*If you live in a fake world, you won't enjoy, you won't be happy and you feel always empty. But above all, your point is to make others believe you're happy...but what for?? there's no point on doing that. That's not a life.

    But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
    Oh even in the dark
And that's where I want to be, yea

*I love this part. If its true you can see it with your eyes...even in the dark. If you are happy, you will ALWAYS be. Even when life gets hard, you'll be willing to move one, to go back to the top. And that is where you should try to be, because that's where I want to be.

Hope This Helps...Now you know why I love this song... :D

    I think it's about a little girl's parents divorcing.

She lives in a fairy tale
(Her parents are fighting and she hates it, so she makes up a world where she doesn't have to deal with it.)

Somewhere too far for us to find
(Her parents don't notice because they're too busy fighting and don't talk to her and can't make her feel better)

    Forgotten the taste and smell
Of the world that she’s left behind
[She's so caught up in her fantasy world, that she forgets (eality)

It’s all about the exposure the lens I told her
(She should just think about good things in life)

The angles were all wrong now
She’s ripping wings off of butterflies
(She hates whatever is beautiful and mystical because she doesn't think anything is good anymore.)

With her feet on the ground
And her head in the clouds
(She should still make sure she knows whats reality)

    Well go get your shovel
And we’ll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
    Ba da ba da ba
(She should stop dreaming so much because in the end nothing will go the way she dreamt, and it will hurt even more)

So one day he found her crying
Coiled up on the dirty ground
Her prince finally came to save her
And the rest you can figure out
(Either she finally found a friend that helped her through her troubles and she feels so much better, or her dad started talking to her and she told him how she felt, so he is trying to make it better)

    But it was a trick
    And the clock struck 12
([The friend] They probably had a fight and they wouldn't talk anymore, [and she was fantasizing again and didn't ever think that would happen] and she didn't feel any better than before. [Dad] He started to fight with the mom again.

Well make sure to build your house brick by boring brick
or the wolves gonna blow it down
(If you live reality and see that things might go wrong, it won't hurt as much when they do.)

    If it’s not real
You can’t see it with your eyes
You can’t feel it with your heart
    And I won’t believe it
    Cause if it’s true
You can see it with your eyes
    Even in the dark
And that’s where I want to be, yeah
(She's trying to see that what she thinks isn't real, and thinking to see what is.)

    Go get your shovel
    We’ll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
    Ba da ba da ba…
(She later sees what's truly going on and stops thinking in her fairytale life. She isn't too optimistic and she can see things for what they truly are and can deal with the divorce. She lets go of her bad past and moves forward.)

This is the way I see it. My parents were divorced, but this didn't happen to me. They divorced before I was 2. I barely remember it. I don't remember it. I don't know how t feels to have a dad and mom in the same house, so it's regular for me and I don't really feel much pain...

This song Brick By Boring Brick is about how fairy tales are never really what they seem,in the begging sure they seem like a beautiful experience but then every thing turns so in true life fairy tales never truly does have a happy ending.

and thats the honest to god truth

This song is beautifuly craftd and i can say I havent heard a song as good as ths 4 ages. Hayley is a genius! My interpretaxon: This song is about buildng our "fairy tales" to cope from realty, whch is far from being a fairy tale. But 8 tels us that evendo our "heads in d clouds" (that's wen we escape from realty) we shud stil "put our feet on d ground," meanng we should not 4get realty. Becoz if we dont, we will have difficulty on identifyng what's real and what's not, whch is a very dangerous thing. Very poetic indeed!

I think it means that the little girl is finally realizing that her "castle" isn't real and that life's starting to catch up w/ her. What they mean by "bury the castle" is that she has to get over her imagination and move onto the real world.

This is just my thinking...I just recently hear the song
The song tells mostly about every girl and/or even boys growing up...
Mostly little kids, when something bad or tragic happens, they think about the fantasies they know to make then feel better, lost in their own dreams. But as they grow older, they have to bury or store their dreams and face reality. That not everything is as it seems to be, that there is no magic like in stories.
It's a fact cause me, as a little girl, I kept on dreaming and thinking that life is like a fairytale, with magic and evil villains, but now than I am officially a teenager, I have to stop those childish thoughts and face the real world.

Okay, I'm honestly pretty doubtful so correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this song is pretty much saying that you can't escape from reality into fantasy because you can never truly believe it. It is probably about her childhood, her trying to escape from her potentially depressing life into a world of fantasy, but then realizing that she couldn't hold onto her fantasy. At the end when the girl runs into the grave, Hayley starts walking away and the man starts burying the girl, I interpreted it as Hayley burying her fantasy world and leaving it behind. Sorry if I'm wrong, but I hope that helped. :)
