Pink: Who Knew Meaning
Song Released: 2006
Who Knew Lyrics
You showed me how
You promised me
You'd be around
Uh huh
That's right
I took your words
And I believed
In everything
You said to me
Yeah huh
That's right
If someone said three years from now
You'd be long gone
I'd...

#1 top rated interpretation:I saw the video and the guy clearly drowns himself. Maybe he has a mental issue or it could be drugs or whatever, I think he just had issues. She, obviously, loved him, which made her think he'd always be there. When people told her otherwise, she doubted it. I just think the guy had issues (whether it be drug related or just mental issues) and he commits suicide, which she never thought would happen because he obviously told her he'd be there forever.

#2 top rated interpretation:I think you all know pink has been naughty all her life and she had some drug problems.some of her friends were dealers or drug addicts and this song is about/for a junkie friend of her who took an overdose.she found him and called 911 but it was too late.she was 14 when it happened.
This song is one of my favourites.it reminds me so much of my ex bf.he had some drinking problems and would lie a lot about everything and everybody told me he was not good for me and he would hurt me but I would always see only the good parts he had and thought he would change.of course it wasn't the case but..who knew..I didn't.. -

#3 top rated interpretation:She said' Yeah, it's about somone I knew, a close friend, more like my boyfriend, but we were close friends, yeah. He was a drug user, and er, basically he died of a heroin overdose. I was only fourteen, yeah, everyone said that hed be gone soon, they knew all along. They knew what was gonna happen , but he said they were wrong. It would be forever. But you trust your freinds, and you beleive what you wanna.' I guess that's what the song is about because that's what she told that guy off FX.

My son died of brain tumours, 3 yrs earlier we were told he was cured "who knew". This song seemed to sum it up. No one can predict the future however we expect it to pan out. Thank you Pink

The song and video have similar interpretations but are not exactly the same. In the video the couple is shown having ups and downs amid the boy’s drug use. He eventually ods and she calls for an ambulance then walks away, heartbroken. The video does not indicate that he dies.
Pink has said the song was written about her teenage friend that od’d but whom she was not romantically involved with. She also stated that the song has taken on new meaning through the years, as it could apply to various relationships in her life.
The song does not have to be interpreted as being about romantic love loss or drug addiction. It could apply to losing a friend, family member, etc. The main theme is loss. -
This makes me think of a girl who found her boyfriend died from an over dose the girl called 911 and while the stand in the ran she crys remebering all the fun they had.

Wow! So many people know the song "Who Knew".
P!nk has said that Who Knew is about a friend that died from a drug overdose.
It can also be said to be played at a funeral, to state that no one expected this person to die.
PLAY AT MY FUNERAL, PLEASE! -
This song is about loss whether death of someone close or loss of friendship. For me its more about the loss of a friendship. Falling for a friend when your not supposed to. Something happens you part ways and hope to see them again someday. "Who knew" she would fall for her friend. He didn't even know she never told him because she didn't want to ruin the friendship.

"I'll keep you locked in my head until we meet again". Could be about loss of someone due to death or loss of a love.
-
How about we make it easy and just agree that it is a song about losing someone you care about to death no matter the reason.

This song makes tears come to my eyes.. It reminds me of someone I guess you coul call my boyfriend. His name is Dakota and e hates his life. I have to admit, seems like he's been through some rough times throughout his life. I always try to comfort him and he told me he'd be with me as long as he's alive.. But he kind of le me down and started going out with a lot of different girls. Now, I'm not so certain of where our relationship is standing now, but I do know I still love him and always will. I've made that clear to him, but I don't think what I feel matters to him anymore. But I love him and I don't care how long he lasts before he gets tired of me (lol). My story, to me, relates to Pink's in so many ways.

A lot of you are getting this wrong. This song is about a girl who clearly is in a relationship with a boy who takes drugs. He promises her he will be there forever while other people are doubting the fact he will. They say he is going to be gone by the next three years. But the girl refuses to believe it and only looks at the good parts of him. She finds him overdosed and dead and calls 911. An ambulance comes to take him away. That is the real story behind this song.

This has nothing to do with a boyfriend. It was about a friend of Pink's who had died of a drug overdose. Everyone was saying he was going to go, but she didn't believe them, because this guy said their friendship was forever. She was only 14 and the majority of the people at the funeral were only young. She said that this wasn't a wakeup call, and she continued using drugs until one day she got really sick "Like a pill" and decided enough was enough, and it was time she cleaned herself up

i think its about a lost love. Basing it on my own recent experience. Like, i do believe is about her friend with a drug problem, however it means what the listener wants it to.
I think that its about a relationship that you thought was going well, and he says its 'forever' promising you the world then he breaks up with you are leave you. Your friends doubt your relationship, but you don't listen knowing that he has reassured you that all is well but in the end it was just didn't! 'That last kiss i'll cherish until we meet again' which is a tattoo I have which is like even though you'll one day get over, its a love you'll never forget and you'll cherish the memories you did have and remember the last time you were together and that kiss goodbye ..
but thats just my opinion .. -
