Awake and Alive Lyrics
And they try to pull me into the dark
I struggle to find my faith
As I'm slipping from your arms
It's getting harder to stay awake
And my strength is fading fast
You breathe into me at last
I'm awake, I'm...

This song is about you realizing that the world cannot tell you what you can and cannot believe in.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes--the Jew first and also the Gentile.
At many concerts John (the lead singer and bassist) has said this so many times before this song because the world cannot choose the way you live your life.
"I'll do what I want cause this is my life"
And when you realize that the world doesn't control you then can become: Awake and Alive!!!!

I think this song is simply about how he wants to simply live his life as he wants too. Maybe it has a slight religious view like how all the rules might be a little unreasonable. Maybe he is slipping away from God to regain his independence and live his own life without a constant set of rules he is forced to follow.

The Message is pretty straight forward, This is a conversation between you and god.
* I struggle to find my faith, as I'm slipping from your arms *
Try To Look At It That Way.
The First Part Is When The Person Is Lost.
The Chorus Is Where The Person Discovers God,And The Last Part:
* In the dark I can Feel you in my sleep In your arms I feel breath into me, forever hold this heart that i will give to you forever i will live for you.*
Is When You Give Your Love And Faith To God.

I think in a more general sense, from a non religious viewpoint that this could be taken as a song about identity and independence.
"I'll do what I want, cause this is my life"
He'll do what he wants because it is HIS life. His own, not someone else's his choices to make and the such. "Im awake Im alive, now I know what I believe inside" he's coming to know his own thoughts, beliefs, identity, and for this he feels alive, awake and actually part of the world. But that's just my two cents

I think this song is about your realtionship with God. When you start to think about it in every day life you get away from him. Also how every your not allowed to say God with out someone jumping on you like a rabbid cat. Your not going to back down just because someone tells you to are you? Of couse not! I really like the waking up part because you finally opened your eyes and see the truth to all the lies in society. The selling the soul part I find very true because God knows how many temptetions there are for fame, money, looks. So your always at war with the world.

Awake and Alive by Skillet is about a person who is fighting the world and himself for his beliefs. He says,"I'll do what I want, 'cause this is my life", which means he doesn't care what anyone thinks anymore... he is going to live for God no matter the cost.

This song is about a Christian struggling to stay with God and do what God wants him to do but the world is trying to get them to do something different. It's about the Christian realizing that God is the one that matters, not the things in this world or what the people in this world think.

Like most songs by this Christian Rock Bands, it is a reference to Christianity and the Holy Trinity. In this case, the narrator is unsure about religion, but he finally realizes the right path. He feels "awake and alive", a reborn man now knowing what he has to believe. Now, nothing will change his mind and noone can tell him otherwise.
