Whispers in the Dark Lyrics
Your love is mine for the taking
My love is just waiting
To turn your tears to roses
Despite the lies that you're making
Your love is mine for the taking
My love is just waiting
To turn your tears to...

This song is definitely not about lovers. Skillet is a little known Christian band that floats on the edge of Christian genre. Therefore, this song is god's letter to us, his children, expressing his love and commitment to us. when it says "your love is mine for the taking" he is stating that he deserves our love, and all of it but he will not take it from us because he wants us to give it willingly to him or it means nothing. also, when it mentions he will "turn your tears to roses" it is the classic concept of god working all things for good, despite the pain. This entire song is littered with lyrics congruent to these reinstating what god feels for us, that is why it seems to be a love song because god loves us,in a way that is relateable to our romantic relationships only because we can't fully fathom his perfect and unconditional love.

It's about God telling us how much he loves us and that he will never leave us.

Basically this is how the song comes to me as.
A song about lovers or those who are in a relationship where one is in pain, feeling so alone yet while the hero of the song does try to take away all that pain and to protect his or her love, defending and such really because i do think this song would make a good theme for a battle to reclaim what one loves the most. a dark miracle of sorts

First we must consider how similar the story in this song is to Christ’s love for His Church and that may be the reason it sounds like a love song almost like one between a husband and wife and that is a good thing, it can be interpreted as a Christian song or not of course I find the Biblical Easter Eggs give the song a more personal meaning

It's about God's unconditional love for all of humanity and how He cares for all, despite the fact we sin and are not perfect.

It is a letter from God to us. God is telling us how much he loves us no matter how much we lie and turn away from him.

Its most definiately about God`s love for his children. Skillet is a Christian band, though you might not notice at first glance.

It's about a delusional stalker raping his/her crush. Despite being a Christian band they can still cover dark topic, the rapist is clearly delusional and sick in the head.
"Despite the lies that your making, your love is mine for the taking."
You (The Victim) are lying and you do love me (The Rapist), but you're too afraid to admit it. There for I will take your love, for it is mine.
Here the Rapist clearly is saying that the Victims "No" answer is a lie and that he/her will take the love they are too afraid to give. Taking love could be an act of rape in this case, but the rapist doesn't see it that way as he is delusional.
" My love is just waiting to turn your tears to roses."
The victim is crying, but the rapist will make them love him or her, roses being the symbol of love.
"My love is a burning consuming fire."
Here he/she shows that somewhere they know their "Love" is painful and hurts.
" You lay their broken and naked."
That line speaks for itself.
" You'll never be alone"
I'm going to keep you from leaving of being taken from me.
"When darkness comes, Light the night with stars/You know I'll never fall."
Darkness is the police or FBI and he's saying He(She) will light them up (return fire) /he(she) will not fall to them.
"Whispers in the dark."
Is either The victims, whimpers and cries. The Rapists ravings. Or the Police/FBI coming.
It's actually a really dark depressing song.
I do not condone rape it is a crime worse than murder in most cases.

Just because Skillet is a Christian band, doesn't mean that the song itself is based around God. It could easily be about love. Not every song by them is religious, like Monster, or The Last Night. It could easily be about two lovers, and one isn't able to constantly be with the other.

I think this song is about a man telling a woman that he will be there to comfort her when she needs it.
