Taylor Swift: Look What You Made Me Do Meaning

Album cover for Look What You Made Me Do album cover

Song Released: 2017

Look What You Made Me Do Lyrics

I don't like your little games
Don't like your tilted stage
The role you made me play
Of the fool, no, I don't like you
I don't like your perfect crime
How you laugh when you lie
You said the gun was mine
Isn't cool, no, I don't like you...

To me, I think Taylor Swift...
    A. Wanted to keep her rep. up (because all celebrities have their rep. go down. Can't avoid it!)
    B. Wanted revenge after a breakup(?)
    C. Wanted a knarley, wicked-cool dark song for one of her albums.
This was MY interpretation, but if you disagree, please tell me!
(This song is too good, think I'm gonna go listen to this...)

Contrary to what most people think I guess, I believe this is Taylor mocking the entire situation she's been inserted on rather than taking shots at anyone. From the Disney-like intro to the sarcastic and humorously hateful lyrics. "I dont trust nobody and nobody trusts me!". Also taking a look at the campy music video, it completely looks like a self-aware parody. The title is about her being forced to murder her old self due to being called out for being fake and always "playing the victim". Look what you made me do – now I will play the villain for you.

Well... I have observed the music video and at the beginning there’s a grave that says ‘here lies Taylor Swift’s reputation.’ Now this is pretty much the main meaning about the song. Her old reputation is dead and she has a new reputation. I think she wrote this song because... 1. Her reputation needs a change to amaze her fans and be popular again. All singers decline in popularity, so she needs to release a song that is very dark and showing how she wants to keep her title. 2. It can be about how someone turned on her? Like when it said “you asked me for a place to sleep, locked me out, and threw a feast.” That’s the end of my theory

"Tilted stage" is kanye. "Kingdom keys" is KK. Kim Kardashian. But it's also kanye feeling entitled to be the next coming of Jesus, which he believes also.

Taylor's saying that she's now the monster that everyone's created and she's gonna run with it. Gonna become that monster and haunt them in their dreams. Pretty scary chick, if you ask me. Steer clear.

The funny thing is a lot of people think it is because of my hates it is meant suicidally because I said " Old Taylor can't come to the phone right now ... Why ... Cuz she's DEAD " I HAD A GUY AND I RELIED ON HIM SO MUST THAT WHEN HE LEFT ME I HAD SUICIDAL THOUGHTS BUT IN THE SONG I COMITTIED SUICIDE

What the song is about is all of her haters. It's also sort of a diss track to Katy Perry and Kanye. Katy Perry posted something on twitter saying "Watch out for the wolf in sheeps clothing." (I do not know the exact tweet sorry), and was talking about Taylor. It is to Kanye because he dissed her in the middle of her award(music video of the year). Some of it is saying she is never going back to her old self and that she has moved on. I just think this is why, this is not accurate but I just think this is what the song is about.

Taylor was once so popular, everyone knew her name and it was EXTREME. But just like every singer, the popularity and reputation died down and people started to forget her. Deep down, she knew it was going to happen, but she wanted to stay well known. So desperate to keep her title, she released a new, absolutely nonsensical and pointless song. Just kidding. It makes sense. Somebody was probably mean about her crowd dying down so she went Cray Cray Tay Tay mode.

Sounds like brittany spears 10 years ago. Her fame will still carry her but her musical relavence will decline incredibly fast. like so many before her, she'll be 30 soon - no one will care what her image is.

She has decided to change her reputation. That's why in the middle of the song she says that the old Taylor is dead. She has a new bad reputation now and that's what she's trying to imply in her new song.
