The Band Perry: If I Die Young Meaning

Album cover for If I Die Young album cover

Song Released: 2010

If I Die Young Lyrics

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a, bed of roses
Sink me in the river, at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

Uh oh, uh oh

Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you...

I interpret it as meaning there is a new boy in town that loved her they had a kid together and the kid died and they both committed suicide with a knife.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I imagine this song being about a girl that gets taken advantage of. She wants them to celebrate her after shes dead more than they did when she was alive. She wants them to make up for all of the times she was treated badly by giving her the best of the worst.

It's indeed an amazing song. It's probably made to reflect on your life, how it can end so quickly so you shold be prepared. It means different things to different people, but to me it's an amazing, yet sad, song.

this song shows how life is so easy to. how you can lose people with just a blink of an eye. you have to not take people

this song doesnt have one meaning. to some it is about a girl debating on commiting suicide. to others its about still birth babies or losing your kids to sickness. and a few people think its a remake on a poem called 'the lady of the shallot'
i think this song means you never know when your life is going to end, so live like today was your last day

The song is about how quickly life can end, especially at a young age. It reflects the artist's thoughts on death and how her life is less important than others, how she has had her time here and her life can be complete. To young people, especially new drivers, it is a reminder to not be stupid on the road, your actions affect everybody.
