This song has recently come to my attention in an unexpected way, at a time in need. The lyrics are almost fitting. My boyfriend, my soulmate and best friend of 14 years took his own life. He was an amazing person who had been given a tough deal in life and he struggled to cope. He wanted to give me and our daughter so much but was too weak emotionally to fulfill his dream. He would often turn to drink to fight his demons.I found it difficult at times to deal with his depression and it was starting to take its toll on me,our relationship and obviously have an impact on our much loved child. I had never heard this song before or of the RJA's until a few days after he passed, the way I came across it was bizarre, put it this way I didn't look it up, it came to me out the blue and believe me I needed it to help me through. I arranged for this to be played as the last funeral song. (The whole of the lyrics are very moving and the music just tops it off.) They carried the coffin out of the church when it went all rocky at the end (very powerful). I could interpretate the whole song for you in my eyes and situation. I feel so much through this song almost as if hes given it to me, its very close to my heart. He may not be around in body but he is in spirit and he is looking out for me and wants to see me smile, hes letting me know he will stand up with me forever and that he is strong now and that he can be who he wants to be and fulfill what he wanted. It's also letting me know It's okay and he's okay . And the 'tell me you'll stay' part, I believe to stay loving him always and not turn my back on him. This was a big help to me as I planned his celebration of his life, his certain family members who had never been around or supported us previous, made my life hell after everything I had been through, knowing he had my back made me strong for him, while they played silly games, not to let them take over and to give him the send off he deserved! I played the song constant at the time and still do now when I miss him it helps me to feel close. And knowing hes gone to heaven makes me feel good because its everything I believe in. My Guardian Angel. Beautiful in so many ways (and the song). Thanks RJA's as a musician myself I respect who you are and your music your amazing!!

this song is about one person breaking up with another person but it is not as simple as that. At the begining of the song the person that was dumped says "And now that I'm strong I have figured out

And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one" he means that he knows why the other person dumped him but he still doesnt want to accept it. the rest of the song is pretty easy to figure out, he starts saying that he will do anything for her no matter the cost even at the cost of his life.

I think this song might have something to do with the book "kissed by an angel" this guy dies in a carcrash and his girlfriend is still alive but the persn who made their car crash is still out to get her. so the guy tristian, is her guardian angel and he's trying to tell her that shes in danger and that he still loves her. but onces he saves her his job is done so he goes to heaven and he has to leave her behind. thats why in the song it goes "even if saving you sends me to heaven"

This song makes me think of my parents and my ex-boyfriend. It makes me think of my parents because of how much they have loved me and how they always tell me how much they love me and would do anything for me. It makes me think of my ex-boyfriend because when we were dating he tried to commit suicide. I wanted nothing more than for him to feel better about himself. I was willing to do anything to help him, even if I got my heart broken. In the end, that is what happened. He told me that he didn't love me, he never loved me and he never wanted to see me again. It hurt, a lot. But I'm still willing to do anything for him, even if that means I have to leave his life forever.

The whole point of this song is that someone's 'true love' is going to be guided by that someone no matter what. His life is forming, and he's realizing how cruel it all is. His true love is very special to him, and he'd go any length to do anything for her. "I will never let you fall. I'll stand up with you forever," is saying he will do anything to defend the one he cares about more than anything, and he won't let anything bad happen to her, hence the title 'Your Guardian Angel.' "Even if saving you sends me to heaven," means the one speaking will be her 'guardian angel', even if it means dying. "Use me as you will. Pull my strings just for a thrill," may mean he doesn't care if she takes advantage of him, and he doesnt care if she doesn't take his unconditional love as seriously, because in the cruel world put before him, his true love is, so to speak, a shining star in the dark.

okay I just went on here to see what other people thought this song meant. There are many different interpretations. I guess it all depends on how one person first heard it and what they relate it to in their own life. Honestly, there is no interpretation like the artist's. (unfortunately we do not know what that is). but hey the coolest thing about this is, you get to put your own meaning to a very personal type song.
my interpretation is affected by how I was first introduced to this song:
so heres my story...
i had just started going out with my boyfriend, he lived at his parents house at the time. we were up in his room talking and just gazing into each other's eyes and all of a sudden he just starts singing this super beautiful song. I never heard anything like it before... and my boyfriend is the singer in his band so he has an amazing voice to go along with it. well, anyway, he sang it to me... The first song he ever sang to me, and I teared up like crazy. ever since that day, I knew it would be the first song we dance to as a married couple because it was the first song he ever sang to me. Him and I agreed this WILL be our wedding song, because of this special moment we had together not just because we found it online and liked it.
so out of this, my interpretation of the song is:
someone found a love so amazing that every time they smile, tears roll down their face. and they will be with them through it all the good times and the bad. and even if the other person was having a bad day, they will not take it out on their lover and they will always focus on them and be their protector and stay strong no matter what happens. True love. True devotion.
my boyfriend and I have been together for three years and lived together for 1.5 yrs we are getting a house together on the lake soon once we get out of our apt. which will be in a month.
this song shows a lot of spirit, love, honesty, devotion, strength, and love in Christ.
now some may interpret this similarly or extremely opposite (ex, breaking up w/someone and regretting it), or someone being ill and weak and the other being the protector even though the skies are turning grey.
you can take this song as you want... just remember, its easiest to relate it to a a real life situation of your own and the interpretations you get from it are of your personal opinion so make it count!

I agree that this song is about a girl. But not a girl he has. He has chosen her and she has evidently chosen someone else or not chosen him, and he is saying to her that he is hers, forever, and not to throw that away, because in doing that she will be throwing him away. I am notsure about the "heaven" lyric. It could mean that he was willing to die for her, but I think that it goes deeper than that...possibly something only the songwriter knows the meaning of.

maybe, he did sometyhing that screwed their relationship up;; got drunk, kissed someone else, something like that and she left him.
he realized that hes still in love with her.
she's too good to let her walk out like that ::

so he wrote this song to REALLY express his love for her.

my cousin wrote this song for the red jumpsuit apparatus, it was about him being so in love with his girlfriend, but she lost feelings for him and moved on and he was still so in love with her that no one could really take her place. he was suppossed to join the band but couldn't because he was still in college, his offer still stands.

Basically some guy loves a girl so much that he would change his religion for her. Thats the "even if it sends me to heaven" part, some guy just loves some girl so much he would literally do anything for her. He would be her guardian angel, he would die for her etc.
