This song means that you finally meet someone who you connect with. You share the same interests, you trust that person with your life. They don't see your relationship as you do and they just continue going on with their everyday life. You desperately want and feel the need to tell tem how you feel because will never forget this person and your biggest fear is them not recognizing you in a thousand years. This song is about how you are in love with someone and you are always going to be in love with them and you don't know how to handle the situation. This song is about putting yourself out there only to realize that love is a two way street and you feel like a failure once you realize they don't love you back. The other person might find you to be speacial although, they will never love you, when you have been trying to find this person for a thousand years. This song is about how you have made it this far in the game of love and find the one, but they don't nessisarily see you at first.

Where the impact of the song hits the hardest is the part, "watching you stand alone" because feeling alone and being alone are two completely different things. The one who goes it alone is much more admirable than the one who doesn't yet feels as though they do.
For this to be from a female perspective is different, I think, because it nearly implies courage, strength, and rescue when these are usual "male" "qualities." For her to truly feel this way is paramount because her waiting has everything to do with constraints and his does not. An unbalanced appraoch to love which will, eventually, create a chemical imbalance in the brain.
I felt that way before. And I still feel.that and hoping that he does not "stand alone" though I do not have to be brave to conquer all to be there for him, I can only hope that someone is.
Those are rare earth elements that only fall into us once in a lifetime, and it is from these few blazing trials
that we can learn much more than we ever could have expected about something much bigger than ourselves. An urge to sacrifice, but for unity and not because you are expected to.
The thousand years commemorates this feeling because it feels so unique...which it is! Not in a thousand years or more could you ever know what knowing someone without knowing them means! -
