I think this song has a very deep meaning. Like some of the other comments, I believe this song has something to do with 'Always loving that person' even before you've met them. Because you've told yourself that when you do meet your true love, you know you won't hurt them because you'll love them so much and the thought of letting them go after waiting for that person for so long is heart breaking! And you'll love them for a thousand more years!!

On October 26, 2011, she released an official video for the song on her YouTube channel. The video begins with Perri holding a candle. It features a few clips from the movie interspersed between scenes with Perri singing in a room with a floor full of candles. The video may include the voices from Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson saying they love each other while in a wedding and also they can be heard in the background before the bridge. She ends the video singing into a sunset.

Recently my girlfriend and I broke up, I heard her singing this song once an it made me think about the part I have died everyday waiting for you, this reminded me that I waited but she did not come around. I have waited for a long time for this person that I love and I will continue to. Anyway that is how I interpret the song.

My interpretation is that our lives start way before we're born and last way after we die there are people (souls) that are destined to meet at some point in our lives. I have recently had a grandson and I felt that I and this little soul have known that we would come into each other's lives at some point in time. You don't know how or when. In my experience my little grandson came to me in a second marriage through my daughter from the second marriage. I had been married previously and had lost my first husband to death it is bittersweet to know that that must come to pass because I was always going to have my grandson come into my life. Our lives are eternal no beginning no end

It is obviously a song about Edward and Bella as Perri wrote it after watching the movie 6 months before the release. Notwithstanding the actual meaning I have another interpretation of what it can also mean. There are many parents alienated from their children for many reasons (mainly though due to the influence of a hostile favoured parents). This song speaks to those parents and children that even though you (the child) is gone I (the parent) love you with all my heart, have loved for ever and will always love you forever and will wait for the day when you (child) have the inner strength to come back to me (the parent) and even if you never do I (the parent) will still love you (the child) and you should never forget that.
