i know this song is all about her and rising above her hardships she faced, but i cant help think about 9/11 when i listen to this song. the twin towers obviously being the skyscraper, but in the beginning, "Skies are Crying/I am watching/
Catching tear drops in my hands" i imagine any citizen watching the towers collapse. and then, "only silence/as it's ending/like we never had a chance" being we had nothing to do to stop the planes that were hijacked and the silence being the shock that everyone was in with nothing to do but just watch. "do you have to/make me feel like/there's nothing left of me?" this could be the terrorists making americans feel like we are losing so much and that they just keep going until we dont have much left. "You can take everything I have/You can break everything I am/Like I'm made of glass/Like I'm made of paper/Go on and try to tear me down/I will be rising from the ground/Like a skyscraper" this could be the fall of the buildings and then the rebuilding of the memorial that is at ground zero now. the rest of the lyrics fall into place as well but it being the tenth anniversary today and i just heard the song for the first time yesterday i couldnt help but imagine that this could be interpreted about 9/11 even though it is clearly about her overcoming her own struggles -
i think the song is about people getting over desperation like bullying,relationships etc.
and people have to fight for themselves, and getting over the people who didn't think you could do it or was good enough for something. I really like this song because i am going through a desperation time right now so i can really relate -
well at first when i listened to this sing i was like...was she raped? Listen to the lyrics and you will see that meaning kinda...but after further review i can see that she DOES mean the media and what others say and do...and ALSO...i had a large struggle with bulimia with anorexic tendencies and it does NOT have to control you! i have found a healthy weight at 110 lbs, i am 5' 1.5". YAY!! And at one pointi was the same height and only 78 lbs. That was my all time low and i was put in a rehabilitation center and therapy. A year later, I am 15 years old, I am happy! and i have a wonderful boyfriend who stuck with me through it all. I am a Skyscraper, and i encourage other young, old, and in between women to be the same.

This song is about how she went through all her issues after ending her relationship with Joe Jonas. She says that he (Joe) can take everything she have and break everything she is but she'll be rising from the ground like a Skyscraper and go through everything. It's obviously about her relationship with Joe, because she said in an interview, that she recorded this song one year ago and she couldn't stop crying while she was on the studio recording Skyscraper. She also told that she didn't write this song but when she first saw this song it meant everything to her. So, this song is definitely for Joe Jonas. This song will help a lot of people who is getting through the issues that she went through. Skyscraper's powerful and her voice is strong.
The video clip shows a heart inside of a glass box and she told in the interview that it means that her heart is sensible. At the end of the video clip, the glass box is broken but the heart doesn't. She said that it means that her heart is strong enough to go through this kind of issues without be broken. Demi made a great work and she's very courageous! Stay Strong <3 -
