i think this song is just about a typical teenage girl who dreams of a better life beyond her possibly small town. she knows there is something more out there for her and she is just to young to reach it yet and she feels frustrated. she sees other people having great lives and she wants to be apart of that.
the only other reason i have is that she is having problems at home like her dad abusing her mom or one or both of her parents or addicted to sdomething and now that she is married and away from home, she is going through the same abuse her mom did or maybe she did as a little girl and now when ever her husband abuses her she remembers her dad and all the painful memories come back. she feels desperate to escape.
