I think that this song is about the fact that we never really show who we truly are inside. We're always hiding something, even if it's just a little thing because we're scared that people won't accept us if they knew about it. Sometimes we just want to pretend we're someone we're not. We show people what we want them to see, and, in that sense, we're all "actors on a stage".

It's about how we all have our secrets and hide behind our own little facade. Sometimes we feel safer by lying and hiding ourselves from the world, but what kind of life is that? We're not really living if we hide our true selves. "Safe in your room/ Safe as a tomb" you hide yourself to keep from getting hurt emotionally, but then you don't experience love and happiness; you're as emotionless as if you were dead. "You're searching so hard' You've lost yourself" The longer you hide behind your facade and all your walls, the easier it is to lose sight of who you are. Every single one of us is hiding some part of ourselves, and really we're all just actors.
