Asking Alexandria: A Lesson Never Learned Meaning
A Lesson Never Learned Lyrics
This is not my true face
If you could see my soul,
as I have seen my soul
I could show it to you
It's rotten,
it's poison
Help me please!
Please, give me a fucking excuse
I beg for just one reason to give...
-
you guys should stop taking things so literally.
this song is simply about a guy who always gets drunk, laid, high, i can go on forever. the first verse of the song is actually quotes what dorian gray said in a famous movie adaption of a novel called A Picture of Dorian Gray. he's saying that the man in a picture he saw of himself is not his true face, that his face is "rotten, poison" apparently just as a face of a sinner would be.
in the rest of the world he's practically begging a friend to help him in this, and not to give him away. when he's asking him to choose sides, he's asking if he would betray him and give him away to jail or rehab, or stay with him.
the chorus is saying that the world may end and collapse, and he wouldn't care, he'll still be laying there, drinking vodka, fucking girls, not giving a shit.
the next verse, he's asking not to pray to god for him to change, because he'll never change. no atheist feelings there.
then he says that he's tired of "hiding behind false eyes", meaning acting like some innocent guy when (again) the world may end, and he wouldn't give two fucks. -
I think its saying you could choose either atheism or religion but either way your left on your own. So Asking Alexandria is saying why pray when "God" isnt there. Thats just what i think.

They dont hate or not believe in god they said they write fiction.
-
actually the begining of the song is from the movie dorian grey he says those lines in the movie, the rest of the song is based kinda on this movie dorian grey selfs destructs and says he is a god, I think they got this song from that movie and it goes with the life that band lives, hope that helped.

A lesson learned is a song about atheism and realizing that there is no "God".
At the beginning it says:
Are you with me or are you on your own
It's time to choose your side
So choose your side
He's saying pick sides between Christianity and Atheism or any "non-believing" Opinions.
Hear me now
Get off your knees
Nothing changes when you pray
I'm the closest thing to a "God" you'll ever know
Get off your knees... Open your eyes
It's clearly saying to stop praying by getting off your knees because nothing happens when you pray.
