Avenged Sevenfold: Victim Meaning
Victim Lyrics
A letter on the stairs
A tape full of messages
for anyone who cares
Collage of broken words
and stories full of tears
Remembering your life
'cause we wish that you were here
Nothing is harder
than to wake up all...
-
Are you people that dumb?? It's. about. Jimmy. fucking. Sullivan. and for the people who cant see that need to fuck off >.<
-
Okay,so the lyrics at the beginning are wrong.I thought it said that too until i bought the songbook.Instead of "a day full of messages" its actually "a tape full of messages". Instead of "closure broken words" its should be "Collage of broken words"

This song was written for Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan (R.I.P) the band dedicated the entire Nightmare album to him. He was a best friend to all of them and THE BEST drummer. Matt Shadows also wrote the song "So Far Away" for him. "The Rev" is in the music video for "Dear God" if you would like to know who he was. RIP "The Rev" You are missed.
-
This song is 100 percent about rev, he wrote the drumming mends for it just like he did all the other songs on this album after he passed basicly all Exept one or to songs were changed lyricly this is all about Jimmy and nothing els rest in peace rev we miss you
-
The only song written for Jimmy was So Far Away it was the first and only song Gates has wrote it was him telling Jimmy how he felt so please get your facts straight cause Jimmy co-wrote this song.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
Your all clearly wrong, this song is not about Jimmy, only one song was actually made AFTER his death, that being So Far Away by Synyster Gates.
This song could be based on many different things including the loss of a loved one, but it doesn't mean its about the loss of Jimmy. It's certainly dedicated to him though. -
*Facepalm*
It is clearly about Jimmy.
It disgusts me how little people know about a band they claim to love.
Just proves who the real fans are. -
The hole album "Nightmare" was a tribute to their old drummer names James Owen Sullivan, and it is insulting to say that it is about the loss of a girlfriend. Their drummer was a good friend and he died of inconclusive causes (as in no one is sure how he died, even after an autopsy, though drugs are the currently accepted culprit). The whole album, especially the songs "Victim" and "So Far Away" are written as a tribute to their bandmate and good friend.

I think it is about how not to take anything or anyone for granted, because you could awake and see they are no longer there. And some things you can win back, but others can be gone. So basiclly never take things or people for granted or treat them bad, because they may not be there when you turn around.
-
i think it's about his girlfriend's either leaving or dying and he doesn't realize how awful it really is until he wakes up and realizes how hes now alone. It also says how we're all just victims of a crisis, meaning we've all had something terrible happen in our lives and we're victims from it.
