Cavetown: Idea of Her Meaning
Idea of Her Lyrics
And I think I'm in love with the idea of her
Lie in the morning aurora
What time is it in California?
Throwing up brains through my mouth
Yeah, I'm thinking out loud, things we won't talk...
-
I think it's about rather than being in love with someone, you're in love with the idea of dating them? Like holding their hand, kissing and being a cute romantic couple instead of liking who they actually are.

I think there's a deeper meaning behind this song, because instead of say he's in love with her, he says he's in love with the idea with her. And those are two different things. You can fall in love with the idea of her (waking up beside them, kissing them, etc.) Yet discard the parts of her that aren't as friendly. If you love someone, you love all of them. If you love the idea of them, you love a piece of them. And it can be hard to tell the difference sometimes.
