Things That Make It Warm Lyrics

My feathers seem to have taken the brunt of the storm
They are feeling pretty worn
We finally found shelter tucked away inside a wall
Though for now it's pretty small
You and me
We can make this hole a home
We can fill it up with grass and...

I don’t know if this is the inspiration behind this song, but the lyrics make me think of puffins in particular. They make homes in the sides of cliffs. The male stays in with the young and makes a nest while the female goes out to sea to fish for extended periods of time. Cave town is the male at home while his partner goes off to sea. I love this songs comforting yet sad lyrics and aesthetics.

when the other person left i beleive that he is saying that hes not going to give up on them because they needed space, but hes going to better himself while waiting for them because he truly loves and cares.

My interpretation, besides the part of the birds and their nest, is: someone’s leaving, (maybe to another country or something like that) but this obviously doesn’t mean bonds are gonna get broke, you can wait for them. Prepare yourself as home and be ready to receive them with open arms and all the things that made YOU warm. <3
Plus: this is such a cute and lovely song that makes me feel comfortable, warm and at home so I listen to it to sleep. :)

I'm pretty sure cavetown said its a song about birds who are a couple and one of them is flying away across the sea. They are building a nest together.
