I Must Be Dreaming Lyrics

How can I pretend that I don't see
What you hide so carelessly?
I saw her bleed
You heard me breathe
And I froze inside myself
And turned away
I must be dreaming

We all live
We all die
That does not begin to justify you

It's not...

It`s NOT about Amy`s sister how many of you might think (Amy`s sister didn`t cut herself). It`s about another Girl (maybe one of Amy`s friends)who cuts herself.A Person who loves her noticed it and is woried about her but she says "It`s not what it seems, not what you think". Theperson wants to help her and wants to tell someone else but the Girl tells him/her again and that he/she must be dreaming

i believe this is about her sister a lot of her other songs are. i think the part were she says i saw her bleed is from her seeing her sister cut herself at some point and that she could see through her sister hiding her feeling

I think this song is about someone witnessing a murder and the murderer knows she has seen it, and she can't speak about it but it's eating her alive!!!!

Personally I think it is about her sister and how she blames her parents (or someone) for her death. "Help you know I've got to tell someone, Tell them what I know you've done
I fear you but spoken fears can come true".

And it appears she has learnt or been told by her parents(or someone) that it was an accident and that has not made a change or willingness to forgive them. "We all live ,We all die ,That does not begin to justify you".

And also how she dealt with the pain and with bad things that happened in her life. "It's not what it seems ,Not what you think ,No I must be dreaming ,It's only in my mind ,Not in real life ,No I must be dreaming " Was a way to comfort herself and manage to deal with pain.

The first verse appears to be about the lies told to her which she saw through and caused her 'freak out' and go into a state of denial."How can I pretend that I don't see ,What you hide so carelessly? ,I saw her bleed ,You heard me breathe ,And I froze inside myself ,And turned away ,I must be dreaming ."

Actually I think it may be about someone (it does not have to be Amy herself) that is in a relationship.
How can I pretend that I don't see
    What you hide so carelessly?
    I saw her bleed
    You heard me breathe
And I froze inside myself and turned away
    I must be dreaming
    - She probably saw her love do something brutal to another woman (My guess is murder, thus the 'bleed') And she did not want to belive that this is true. Her partner noticed that she saw this ('You heard me breathe) She got scared, ran away, and now she's still telling herself that this is a dream.

    We all live (and)
    We all die (but)
That does not begin to justify you.
-That is the character telling her partner that what he did was wrong, while he may have said -It's nothing. She was going to die anyway- and she told him that it 'does not begin to justify you'

    It's not what it seems
    Not what you think
    No, I must be dreaming
    It's only in my mind
    Not real life
    no, I must be dreaming
-The girl is trying to tell herself that this isn't true. She doesn't want to believe it. She's screaming (I actually think that the high voice of Amy here symbolises the shrieking of the girl) 'No! I must be dreaming!'

Help I know I've got to tell someone
Tell them what I know you've done
    I fear you
But spoken fears can come true.
    - The girl is terrified. Her partner tells her not to give him out, but she knows that she needs to. The 'I fear you' might mean that she knows what he is able to do, and is now afraid of what he'll do to her if she gives him out. 'Help' because she is scared, of her partner and of what he did. 'Spoken fears can come true.' She fears that if she doesn't give him out herself, it may turn against her/ or it will get even worse.

I think this song is about Amy being with a "perfect" boyfriend. At one point, she say him abuse or murder another woman, and she's in shock. She is telling him that even though no one else knows, other people have done the same thing, and she loves him, she doesn't want to let him get away with it. She's trying to convince herself that this guy could never do something like this. It wasn't him. I saw you do it, and you know I saw you do it, but you didn't do it, so it's okay, right?

I have heard this song over and over again and I think I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one.I believe this song is about Amy (or a character) dating a guy and she saw him kill a girl and she's trying to understand what's going on because he keeps telling her she was dreaming but that's not working on her. So she knows how he has been brainwashing her and blaming her "visions" on her mentality when it was actually true. So I believe the ending is slow and eerie because I believe he kills her.

It's not about Amy's sister. She was at school when her sister died. Hello is about Amy's sister. She didn't see her sister die. I thought you guys would know that but anyway. I always thought that this song was about someone cheating on Amy it just kind of comes across like that with the lyrics:
"How can I pretend that I don't see, what you hide so carelessly, I saw her bleed, you heard breathe and I froze inside myself and turned away, I must be dreaming."

Sh can't pretend that she doesn't see he's being unfaithful anymore because he doesn't bother to hide it well.
She saw the girl, she turned away, it was too much, so she thought she was dreaming.

    also:
"I know I've got to tell someone, tell them what I know you've done, I fear you, but spoken fears can come true"
She knows he cheated, she has to tell someone what he has done. She fears him, maybe an abusing relationship, I know she was once in one, so maybe.
    theres my interpretation.
    xxx

It's actually officially called 'Unknown' because it is unknown what happens after we die.

    :D

I haven't actually fully thought of the meaning of this song...but the title is wrong. It's called Bleed and it was unreleased.

This song is actually about Amy Lee's sister, Bonnie, About how she died.

"How can I pretend that I don't see
    What you hide so carelessly?
    I saw her bleed"

She is saying that she knows that she is dead even if you try to hide it I will always know I saw her die.

    "You heard me breathe and
I froze inside myself and turned away
    I must be dreaming"

She says that when she saw what was happening she hoped it was a lie.

    "We all live
    We all die
That does not begin to justify you"

That means that even if everyone dies doesn't mean that it was right for her to have died even if "we all die"
