Wide Awake Lyrics

I’m wide awake (x2)

I’m wide awake
Yeah – I was in the dark
I was falling hard
With an open heart
I’m wide awake
How did I read the stars so wrong?
I’m wide awake
And now it’s clear to me
That everything you see
Ain’t always what it...

I 100% agree with the Illuminati comment. She says she's born again as a satanist? Falling from the cloud like Satan. Joined with other fame seekers: Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Manaj, and so many more. She is anywhere from finding God right now.

I believe this song is about being so sure you have a friend in someone and have too much of a big or an "open" heart to accept the fact that they have betrayed your trust. What the victim of betrayal then finds themself doing is fighting and doing everything in their power to attempt to reel the person back, but ultimately they find it was a waste of their valuble time because it only hurts them in the end as the song clearly states:
"I wish I knew then what I know now,
    Wouldn't dive in,
    Wouldn't bow down,
    Gravity hurts,
But you made it so sweet,
Til I woke up on the concrete..."
"Falling from cloud nine" is a metaphor for the realization of the scenario the victim finds themself in. The song's title and a repeated background verse "Wide awake" is another metaphor for the shock of loosing someone you thought you cared about even after seeng who they really are...
And by "Letting go tonight" the victim learns from their past experiences and learns to forgive but not to forget as they make a concious choice to sever all ties and let the one who hurt them go make all the wrong choices, keep their shallow heart, and be themself.
Through making this decision, the victim finds that they are no longer a victim and that they don't have to pretend to be someone they aren't just to please others. And even though they "Tried to see the bright side" of the situation they were in, ultimately the choice they made told them they "aren't blind anymore" and that the split was for the better.
The song may also suggest someone who lives in a fantasy world... who can decipher real from fake... who is 100% sane... who has a big imagination and an even bigger heart and a deep train of thought... someone who chooses to think of themself as a knight or a hero rather than someone insignificant... rather than just another person trying to fit in... someone like me...
I've only heard the song... Idk... mabe twice... and I can tell you it is already very dear to my heart... because I've been there... I've been that victim... and it is the worst mistake you can ever make... Make fiends who like you for you and who don't expect you to change anything and who won't stab you in the back... Scars heal in time... but they take awhile... you know the saying "Forgive and forget"? Well... It's hard to forgive someone who has hurt you... but you can do it... the part you can never do is forget... you will always remember... just don't dwell on the past... it will be your undoing...
    It will pass...
And in the words of Kelly Clarkson "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger".

The song seems to be about more then one thing. In the first verse "I was dreaming for so long" implies she is talking about teenage dream. Her album and tour has been out for two years now... and this was her version of a teenage dream. It wasn't want she thought it was going to be like. She doesn't regret it. She just wished she knew what she knows now.

The second verse seems to be about letting go of something... probably her marriage.
She let go, picked up the pieces of her life, and didn't lose any sleep, she needs nothing to complete herself. Clearly she is implying that she turned to God for guidance or acceptance, but whatever happened it doesn't matter now. "The story is over now the end."

From the very start of this song i thought it was about her fame. I think that she didn't know what it involved and even though fame has its perks sometimes, as always, life crashes down around you. I think she finally realizes that fame isnt what its cracked up to be and she wants to be exactly like she used to be. Small, innocent and not being followed whereever she goes

Clearly, Wide Awake is a song that Katy wrote about how she was wrong about everything she had done, seeing her evil side, turning back to Jesus. And she is becoming a Christian again. Also, she subtly adds a few things about her ex husband, Russell Brand. She does use quotes from Bible stories. As the years went on in her life, she got worse and worse. It's a horrible thing to go through. So instead of going to illuminati for evil... stuff....... just go to Jesus Christ! And you shouldn't be afraid to admit your Christianity!! That is.... If you are a Christian.

what i got from the song that was that she woke up from the perception that the devil had left. Then I watched the music video. It then told me that the songs about how her Christian past is. Ow helping her in her celebrity present.

I believe this is katy perrys cry out to GOD for redemption. She is talking about re discovering life with christ. Shes not just waking up, shes living a whole new life. A life with Jesus. She is being pulled away from what the devil has done to her through media. She is SAVED

This song is about how Katy sold her soul to the devil as she has atmitted to, And that she has relised that she hasn't experienced any fulfilment as she's just divorced Russel. She's falling from 'cloud 9' - Sirituality has a ladder - 1 being spiritually distant, 9 being closest to God, 10 being God, and 11 being the Magitian's number. The Freemasons seek to reach the Ultimate Number (11) however, because they are in allegience with Satan, they do this by 'skipping' God (the significance of the number 911) skipping from 9 to 11. What I interpret "falling from cloud 9" as is that she is pulling out just before the skip (she can't do it). She mentions being born again, and out of the lions den - reference to being saved. This song could have a completely vice-versa symbolism, so I'll be monetaring Katy's actions in the new future and conclude from her intentions what she was trying to say through the lyrics.Dshn2012.

She's waking up and turning to God.
She co-wrote this song and, being a former Christian singer, it is not by accident that phrases like "born again" and "out of the lion's den" are being used.

Her friend/co-writer explained that every word of this song was philosophical and was not random in being weaved together.

In her single as Katy Hudson called "Faith Won't Fail," she says "You could cast me in the lion's den
    But they won't harm me
    For Your grace surrounds me
And it sets me free "

She is alluding to it in this song.
Songwriters don't forget what they've written.

Just because Katy used to be a very conservative christian doesnt mean she hadnt strayed away from her beliefs enough to regret going into music. Her beliefs are still her beliefs no matter how she lives her life. She did not sell her soul to the entertainment business.. The jesus freaks who think that she is reverting back to god to seek help because shes in pain obviously dont know enough about her.

Shes just been on a multi-million dollar WORLD TOUR. She just re-released her album and is making a MOVIE. Shes going through a DIVORCE right now. Katy is TIRED. Shes had tons of stress and work and things to do and people to see and shes just overloaded.

Wide Awake is mainly about her Relationship with Russell Brand and how it ended badly. The feeling of finding the love of her life while at the pinnacle of her success on her new album made her feel unstoppable, like she was on cloud 9, and now that he walked out on her she feels like shes coming down off that high. She wished she knew his game beforehand so she wouldnt have dove in to quick into thier relationship (they had only dated about a year before getting engaged). But now that he's gone, she doesnt feel restrained, she feels reincarnated or reborn from a lions den, the most powerful animal on earth, and she doesnt have to pretend to be happy or fake a smile now. She's wide awake because she has woken up from her teenage dream, which is appropriate since this is the ending to this particular era of her (hopefully very long) career, and the beggining of a new one.

Any jesus freaks who say she must regret going into music and being outspoken and eccentric and quirky and is turning back to god obviously are ignorant, because Katy Perry loves her music and LOVES HER FANS. She writes music that relates to them and makes them feel like somebody uderstands them. She would NEVER regret that.

    Love you Katy!

Ita about Katy Perry getting out of the evilness in the musicc industry and turning to God. she didnt realize the bad side until she woke up. its too late for her to get out but at least she is trying her best to get back to God.

I think this song is Katy Perry trying to say that at night she thinks about her "lover" and she is so worried about this that she can't fall asleep and finds herself wide awake at night. Every night she thinks about all that has happened and it keeps her up at night.
