I believe this song is about someone who knew they had feelings for another, but they knew they'd end up hurting them somehow. They tried to warn their boy/girl friend and they tried to get away before they would end up doing whatever it was that hurt their 'other' in the end. But their boy/girl friend wouldn't let go, they kept them there because their feelings were too strong and didn't believe it would ever happen, they thought they'd get able to get through anything. But in the end what happened was she/he did hurt them like he/she warned that they would and now everything is a mess and it's over and there's no going back now. They're already gone and they just need to forget now.
