Cruel Summer Lyrics

Fever dream high in the quiet of the night
You know that I caught it
Bad, bad boy
Shiny toy with a price
You know that I bought it
Killing me slow, out the window
I'm always waiting for you to be waiting below
Devils roll the dice, angels...

This song is about a romance that is sort of killing her because she wants to be with someone else.

Fever dream high in the quiet of the night
You know that I caught it
    Bad, bad boys
    Shiny toy with a price
You know that I bought it
(The line "Bad, bad boys" refers to being in love with two guys at once.)

    Killing me slow
    Out the window
I'm always waiting for you to be waiting below
    Devils roll the dice
    Angels roll their eyes
What doesn't kill me makes me want you more
(Basically she's always waiting for this guy but he never comes. And there is so much bad going on in her life that what wasn't bad made her want this guy more.)

And it's new, the shape of your body
It's blue, the feeling I've got and it's
    Ooh ooh ooh whoa oh
    It's a cruel summer
    It's cool, that's what I tell him
    No rules, unbreakable heaven
But ooh ooh ooh whoa oh
It's a cruel summer with you
(This is basically her saying what she wishes she could say to her boyfriend, but she just can't.)

Hang your head low in the glow of the vending machine
    I'm not dying
You say that we'll just screw it up in these trying times
    We're not trying
    So cut the headlights
    Summer's a knife
I'm always waiting for you just to come to the moon
    Devils roll the dice
    Angels roll their eyes
And if I bleed you'll be the last to know
(She's talking about a date with her boyfriend, whom she is no longer in love with.)

I'm drunk in the back of the car
And I cried like a baby coming home from the bar
Said "I'm fine" but it wasn't true
I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you
And I snuck in through the garden gate
Every night that summer just to seal my fate
And i screamed for whatever it's worth
"I love you," ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?
He looks up grinning at the devil
(She is drunk and is pretty much saying everything to her boyfriend. Then she talks about another time when she screamed to her boyfriend that she loved him in front of her crush. She knew her crush liked her back, so her saying she loves another guy might be the worst thing her crush would have ever heard.)

Thank you for reading this and I really hope this made the song more clear for you.
