This song is one of the few songs Michael sang about women who have alternate motives. Dirty Diana is a groupie who wants to sleep with Michael to get fortune and fame, to be able to say she was with him and get into the spotlight. In the song, Diana not only says she wants these things but she also ends up ruining Michael's relationship with a women by publically saying she slept with him.
