Eyes Wide Open Lyrics

The hating and the waiting, hesitating
I just want to be done with you faking
For the taking but I’m wicked
Up to the fact that you’re lying, and denying
Justifying all the actions you take
It’s pathetic and poetic

It’s just sick!
It’s...

The first section deals with the fact that he is deemed wicked by a person who must see him this way in order to reconcile with what they have done. The lying, faking and taking is like raping someone and then saying they brought it upon themselves when deep down you know that what you did is wrong. You have to hate the person because you hate yourself. But this is internally conflicting because you do care about the person.

    Ha! It's pathetic...and...poetitic.

The second section deals with fairness and compromise where he realizes the scope of the others self-serving plan and understand how the person feels powerful when they think they are forcing him into something without his knowledge. He is saying that his eyes are now wide open. He will not let you have full reign over his emotional ranks nor be forced because he can see and will make decisions for himself.

Now that the truth is exposed and he can see the master plan, he does not want to continue. The damage which results from the constant game of lies destroys any amount of trust but the person (the all-mighty powerful liar and coward) though they hate him for truly caring, wants to justify the lies but he has had enough.

There is no balanced approach to the relationship as one is more powerful and could never see the other as an equal but he soon realizes that for another to have power over you is only possible if you allow it which his eyes are open to that fact and no longer will he allow himself to be emotionally provoked by this other no matter how hurtful or loving their poetry is. They are not being truthful and so every word that spills forth are irrelevant and trite.
