I think this song is about a person who's relationship just ended. He's replaying the memories in his head trying to figure out what he did wrong and imagines in his mind what it would have been like if he'd dome something differently.(Hence "The story of another us." "It cost to much to think of you" He's having a hard time remembering this person (Time is money) and is using all of his time trying to figure out hat he did wrong t make her leave. "One last stitch and new beginnings so take this heart put yourself in it, this surprise ending I'm depending on" He's making sure she knows wherever she may be, with whomever, she'll always be in his heart.
