Your Star Lyrics

I can't see your star.
I can't see your star.
Though I patiently waited, bedside, for the death of today.
I can't see your star.
The mechanical lights of Lisbon frightened it away.

And I'm alone now,
Me and all I stood for.
We're...

if you watch in one of the evanescence interviews terry says he liked this song the most and I suspect its because it's about him because he was put into hospital after suffering a stroke

I don't know, but the thing with the hospital is not a bad idea. Maybe it's about terry when he had the stroke. And the line "though I patiently waited bedside for the death of today" just confirms this theory. And I read, at first they didn't know wether terry would survive. Amy was very worried, so she wrote the lyrics and together with terry the music ( which is great, I think ). But the line with lisbon could be about the time she had the relationship with shaun and missed him when she was in lisbon. Amy didn't write it on one day, parts of whisper she first used for bring me to life or something. Well, never mind about that, the song is great!

When she said she was waiting "bedside", I thought about her being in a hospital, and she's singing to whoever was the patient...Iono, I got that hospital vibe. I guess it's when she said "why can't you hear me calling your name?" it reminded me of someone who is in a coma or something and they can't hear her, and the silence breaks her, for she fears the patient may be dead...Meh, whatever.

"all in parts in pieces, swim lonely, find your own way out."
well, this is prolly the most metaphorical line I can find in this song. I think the parts and pieces represent all her different emotions, yet they're all separate, so she must deal with each one separately to find her own way out.

Lovely to hear how the song came about. But an interpretation should be explaining the meaning of a song. Stop posting things that don't belong. It doesn't make you an expert.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I believe that this song was written from her experiences in Lisbon, where the mechanical lights of the city flushed away the stars at night. She could see the stars at home, so she felt a bit nostalgic.

This is a song about...Well....How depressed amy was when she was on tour, she felt so alone, and she just started singing the song...And boom...So became your star.
