Everybody's Fool Lyrics

Perfect by nature
Icons of self indulgence
Just what we all need
More lies about a world that

Never was and never will be
Have you no shame don't you see me?
You know you've got everybody fooled

Look here she comes now
Bow down and...

I think this song is about celebrities and how they have "great" lives but they don't cause they're not happy and their fake like brittany spears!.

To Evanescence's Everybody's Fool is directed towards people who puts on facades, who are fake despite looking perfect on the outside.
This can be interpreted into many things, rivals, unfair figures of higher social standings. Mostly it speaks about how he/she puts on a mask so that everyone else would see just how great they are and to miss all their faults and wrong doings, which is unbelievably horrid. The lyrics also imply that this person did something hurtful and personal towards the singer so that he/she is considered a vendetta, unforgivable and unworthy of the current life they possess.

I think the song is about people who pretend to be something they're not, which may fool some some people into thinking they're perfect while it just shows some people how much of a fool that person (the one who's pretending0 is a fool. Hence the name 'Everybody's Fool'.

Can you really fool yourself? If you say it or think it enough, whether or not it is true or not, you will believe it eventually.

I just LOVE Evanescence and Amy Lee. No frilly costumes, pink hair, ruffles or any of that shit. RAW and REAL.

Anyway this song is hard to interpret but I know it can be interpreted as someone who hates pretending or acting like "every things ok" when its not. A lot of people do this, including me around family and friends. No one wants to hear "Oh I am depressed" or "I so pissed about blah blah blah". They move on to another person that is more positive. (Either that, or they are faking too).

Or it can be interpreted as A relationship gone bad (as most of them do) and she is sick if it, and realizes she is nobody's fool.

    :-)

I believe the only true person who knows clearly what the meaning this song is about is .. the writer of course.
I'll be taking a guess on this meaning of the song though.

    "perfect by nature
    icons of self indulgence
    just what we all need
more lies about a world that
never was and never will be"
    - This part explains how you act perfect by nature even though your not and it's all lies.

"have you no shame don't you see me
you know you've got everybody fooled"
    - I think it explains someone saying "Don't ignore me , you know you see me. How funny that you got everyone fooled. " to someone who acts perfect or not their true self and tat person doesn't notice the speaker.

    "look here she comes now
bow down and stare in wonder
    oh how we love you
    no flaws when you're pretending
    but now i know she
never was and never will be"
    - Everyone has flaws but many hide the flaws with fake lies and I'm guessing this part is saying how that fake person was loved and now she wasn't real since she was fake. ( ex: A friend that tries everything to hide her true self and has everyone loving the fake her/him but you are the only one who sees her/him as their real self , your saying " Never was and never will be" explaining that fake person was never here and never will be since their friend is real but just locking their true self away.

"you don't know how you've betrayed me
and somehow you've got everybody fooled"
    - This part explains being betrayed by someone or maybe your own self and somehow the person or you had everyone fooled by the fake.

Well to tie this up this person or yourself fooled everyone by acting the fool " Fake self " for everyone and didn't show much flaws until finally bursting and revealing them to everyone.

In my opinion this song portrayed a famous celebrity. She always appears perfect and happy behind her fake smile as in "no flaws when you're pretending" but inside she knew she was lying and hated herself for that.

To me it could very well be about high-school bullies and told from the victim and the bully's perspective after the bully gets ditched by his/her friends. The bully (let's call them Faker) abuses the victim mentally and emotionally telling them they can only be awesome and will stop being picked on if they become more like Faker hence the victim's "you're not real and you can't save me" which is the victim standing up to Faker and telling them no I don't want to be like you. Faker may have been a friend of the victim's at some point "you don't know how you've betrayed me". Faker is later ditched by their friends and goes nuts "HAVE YOU NO SHAME DON'T YOU SEE ME?" which translates to "I MADE YOU, YOU'LL BE SORRY!". The victim sees Faker and their friends as "icons of self-indulgence" and when Faker is ditched they realize they have nobody to hide behind "without the mask where will you hide".

It's about lying, being fake and not being who you are. Then falling back on your lies in times of need. then finding they will only get you into more trouble and not help you at all.

I think it's about a famous celebrity everyone looks up to or loves. He/she seems flawless, perfect and amazing (No flaws when you're pretending) but in real life, they are normal. But slowly their life comes crashing down (Without the mask where will you hide?) I think "i know the truth now i know who you are and i don't love you anymore" is about a fan of the celebrity or even the person themselves who finds out the truth. They then feel betrayed and begin to hate the person.

Maybe, Its about a girl, who doesnt know who she is, and doesnt like who she is, so she fools others into thinking she is perfect. She gets so consumed in her lies, she actually loses herself in them.
She wakes up, and realises that what she is, is fake, a fantasy...

She is saying how celebrities and models aren't real. They are fake and phony people and they are "Everybodies fool" They lie to people and everyone thinks that they are great and perfect, but they're not. In the music video Amy seems sickened by herself for being a phony sell-out. She hates how fake everything is.

This song is about the fakeness that had rubbed onto her sister Carrie after her sister, Carrie, had became more and more of a fan towards women like Christina Agulera and Brittney Spears.

I think it's a great song that says we don't have to be fake to be loved. :')

Ok, I think this is about a woman who LOOKS a little like a celebrity and tries to act like her. In fact, one part of the vidio shows a pair of girls thinking Amy (the fool...no offence) is some celebrity and asks if she is her. Also, Amy wrote this because her sister was acting like Brittany Spears (EW!) and wanted to tell her that it was not her and she should act like herself.

According to the music video. She's a famous actor, and acts out things that aren't her. She wants to show who she really is. She is hating on herself for pretending.

It could also be interpreted into a breakup/hate song, but I think that she's hating on herself.
