Dear Porcupines Lyrics

"Dear Porcupines"

Drown me in my daily cup of tea,
Tell the porcupines to quit stabbing me,

So this song is clearly about Melanie being bullied. because she had a gap between her front 2 teeth, people made run of her. This is her coming back at them saying now she's famous and popular, and they aren't,saying it was a mistake to bully her... I think

This song is about people that used to bully her for how she looked, but now she’s older and famous and they love her.
“ Now you say you love me, but what about before?
When I was just that silly little girl next door.”

In the beginning she was kind of using tea as a reference to something to keep her mind off of the sh*t happening to her. She refers to bullies or people who have harassed her as a child/teen or even an adult. She talks about her teeth and the way they are but people made fun of her. She eventually brings up that she doesn't care anymore about them because she's got her fame and she has nothing.

When Mel was in school she used to get bullied for having gap teeth, this is basically a come back song to all the people who bullied her and made her feel worthless!
